Friendship Friendship is a funny thing. I am not exactly sure what the true definition of it is. According to the dictionary friendship is “the state of being friends”. What exactly is a friend though? I guess each and every person’s version of a friend is different and thus the term “friendship” or “friend” cannot be defined. Depending on the type of person you are takes part in the definition of friendship. For example, a nice person’s definition could be something along the lines of a good friendship being with someone who is always there for you. Then a mean person’s version of friendship could be a person who helps to benefit me the most. So depending on your beliefs, morals, feelings, and personality the view on friendship is different for everyone. To me friendship is a sacred value and should never be taken for granted. A friend is a person that is there for you when you need them. They are there to help you with your tough times and there to have fun with and laugh with during your good times. To me friendship doesn’t just happen. It has to be built up from an acquaintance, to a friend, and then to a best friend. For someone to be a friend and not just an acquaintance certain things have to take place. An example being, when you are in a friendship with someone you hang out with them in your spare time, whereas with an acquaintance you speak with whenever you happen to run into them. Friendship is a specific bond between two people. Some of those bonds are stronger than others and those strong friendship bonds are linked to your best friend. These are the people you confide in the most. The friendship shared between two best friends is something very hard to break. A true friend is there for you when you need them.
