The French And Indian War The French and Indian war had important, immediate effects on the colonies and their British mother country. Great land was acquired for both American settlers and the English government. What Britain did not realize, however, was the problems this new territory would create. Though the French and Indian war was a major victory for the British, but there were negative consequences that came out of the victory. Due to the war between the French and the British, a large debt was obtained. The war was not only fought in America, it was also being fought in europe too. The festivity of the war masked the uprising nationalism of the American settlers.The British realized they had obtained a huge debt from the war and did not have a way to pay for it. Many government officials from Britain were already angry because of the lack of money given to them by America in order to help pay for the war. They also failed to provide large numbers of soldiers for battle. The British Parliament decided that American colonists should be taxed in order to help cover the huge debt England had obtained. Therefore many new taxes were introduced. This infuriated the English and they started to deviate from the British power. The English saw the British as crude, vulgar people with no respect for religion or their own soldiers. The English started to think of themselves as a new people, The Americans. They figured that they no longer needed the British protection, because they had experience fighting, due to the many wars they were involved in during the British rule. This lead to the american revolution, by the Americans inspiration to become their own people. The French and Indian war was a catalyst for historical phenomenas such as the American revolution, because of the British overpowering and controlling the majority of the world. This created new inspiration for Nationalism in America and eventually broke down the British Empire into smaller, less powerful
