Reading is an important part of everyday life. That’s why me and my mom read the book “The Glory Field” and had an interview. We talked about the protagonist of the book, the setting of the book, and the plot. The main conflict me and my mom had was “Should Lizzy had went along with Lem and Joshua?”. The interview was exciting and we mostly had the same views about the story.
Reading books change their mind and maybe as well as their lives. The value of literacy does not only play a role on kids but also on adults. After surviving from the holocaust, it is hard and hurt for Wiesel to recall the memory of what he and others had suffered but he chose to write the history down to let it remembered. He said[,] “I was duty-bound to give meaning to my survival, to justify each moment of my life. I knew the story had to be told.
How do they like to communicate? person-centred approaches, treat the person as an individual, ask them what they would like to do, just because they are in that home/day centre doesn't mean everyone is the same, how has their disability/illness/ageing affected them, they may of always loved to read but can no longer do so, audio-books may help them continue to love books. It has been a long time since I have been in school and I am not as confident as I want to be yet. I will continue writing as I have found out that it relaxes me and I am able to put my thoughts on paper. I would have to say the persuasive argument assignment has been the most challenging to me but I welcomed it and hope I did an ok
Many people use reading as an escape from the world and a chance to give the body and mind a break. It allows the mind to relax because it only has to focus on what is being read. Books can be beneficial to retain information but in order to progress, it is important to expound and stretch the mind based on the reading. If an individual constantly is reading than I believe that there is no opportunity to let the mind grow and develop its own ideas. Schopenhauer uses the analogy of a spring being constantly held under a heavy weight comparing the mind constantly being held back by reading books.
It is best to study one topic at a time and to review the notes and materials frequently throughout the week. Having a good place to study is crucial to the learning process. Find a place that is quite with little distraction and has sunlight or light to help focus on the material in front of you. I know that I like to study on my bed, but this is the wrong place for studying. It is so easy and tempting to lie down and fall asleep.
They agreed, which left him feeling as if they had completely given up their language and culture, which had brought them so close in the past. Daily tutoring sessions helped him, and as he learned more English his family drew farther apart. He found comfort in reading books. Later on he said that books were crucial to his academic success. He became a good collector of thoughts, but usually lacked his own opinion.
When it comes to my approach to my weekly reading assignments within this course, I like to do my reading one chapter at a time. I find this method particularly effective for me, especially if I have multiple chapters to read. I do not like to read more than one chapter at a given sitting so that I will not overburden myself with information. On the other hand, I do not like to read less than a chapter when I sit down and read college material. If I stop in the middle of a chapter, I may lose my place and the information may not get absorbed completely.
I know for a fact that my Grandma is also what makes reading so easy for me. Almost as if it’s a second nature! Whenever I become stuck or draw a blank when writing an essay I like to give my grandma a call and she always does know the right thing to say or other terms write. I also then thank her for giving up that time when I was younger for teaching me how to read and how to write. If it wasn’t for that time spent as a young kid living with my Grandparents, reading and writing, I honestly don’t know where I would be as far as writing, reading, or even as far as attending Purdue Calumet University.
I chose the story of an hour and Paul’s case. Although, I do not read as much as I used to read before, I really enjoy reading stories books. I found these two stories very interesting because I see Paul’s case and story of an hour every day in our society. Although Mrs. Mallard had a heart trouble condition, she did not receive the bad news about her husband’s death with a paralyzed inability like others do. More than sad, she felt “free, free, free’’.
