Free Hugs, Give Up Drugs! Do you have a favorite athlete, whether it be a family member or someone in the NFL? Have they ever gotten punished or kicked off the team for drug use, whether it be steroids or Marijuana? They get caught, most of the time, because they were tested. Athletes should get tested in schools and organizations for enhancement uses. It would be unfair to those who work hard to get where they are physically, in addition to the fact that it would both make athletes better people and, eventually, a better team. Since every athlete competes, it is only fair that all teams work for what they have. Lets say that a new football player (Johnny) weighs 150 pounds. Johnny works hard to gain 20 pounds in the next four months. An opponent on the other team joined the same time Johnny did, but instead of working hard for what he has, he takes steroids and gains 20 pounds in one month. It’s just not fair to Johnny. However, if some of the athletes are getting drug tested, who aren’t doing drugs, and the ones who are doing drugs are not getting tested, then it makes it unfair to the ones who are clean. Therefore all athletes should be tested regularly for drugs to regulate fairness for every school organization. Since there is peer pressure in societies schools today, a person’s friends can convince an athlete to do something they are against, something like drugs. By knowing one is going to get drug tested, it makes it easier to say no, because one knows that whoever tests them is going to know about them. By saying “no”, and focusing on the sport, an athlete would become a better player and a better person. The same happens to everyone on a team. Every sport needs “Good Sportsmanship”, which focus’s on fairness. By the individual persons of a team getting tested and understanding why they are, they will begin to see the fairness behind the action. By
