Dear Honorable Titian: I understand the House of Representatives of the United States has just passed a bill which would do away with federal grants to college students. I am currently enrolled in college and depend greatly on the grants I receive. These grants allow great opportunity, for not just me, but for many other students as well. Taking them away would cause problems in several areas. The passage of the “Pick the Public’s Pocket No More” bill would lower college application rates, lower college graduation rates, and lower our country’s number of new college graduates for open positions in the work force.
An educated workforce attracts employers and foreign investment. Socially, a more educated population should have more choices regarding nutrition, jobs and lifestyle. An additional point is that college fees only contribute a small proportion of the college budget. However, I am opposed to free education. First, through their taxes, poor families subsidize rich students who can easily afford to pay fees.
There are numerous community colleges across the nation, and several undergraduates attend community colleges every year. With an enormous amount of undergraduates attending community colleges, society as a whole should want the colleges to be in the best conditions to educate our future members of society. However, most community colleges are failing to provide the best conditions possible for their students. Community colleges are failing to properly educate their students, and because education is a valuable aspect of the American society, community colleges should be refined to produce knowledgeable citizens of the United States of America. Many college students go into financial debt trying to obtain the high cost of college tuition, because of this more college students are becoming drop outs after their first year of college. In other words, college requires several challenges that many people aren’t ready to take on. Pharinet’s purpose is to inform students who are trying to figure out whether college is best for them or not. No two people are the same, even though people are said to be created equally they still are different in more ways than one.

If you attend college and pursue a major not currently in demand, then what good does the degree you earn do? Today, picking and choosing majors wisely is important. With the expense of college continuing to rise, most people cannot afford to pursue something they will not make money and benefit from later on.
Inflation aside, this means college is getting more expensive. Unless your parents are wealthy enough to pay for your tuition or you worked your tail off to receive a full-ride scholarship, more often than not, you have to take out student loans to fund your education. As a result of the high price tag of getting an education, many graduates struggle when faced with the trouble of paying off that huge debt. It’s no longer a right to attend higher education. To many, myself included, attending college is now a luxury.
College, however, does have its shortcomings such as putting individuals in financial debt, losing time that could be dedicated to making a living, and the stress that comes along with it. However, I believe that the good outweighs the bad in this situation because some advantages of being college educated are higher paying jobs, learning new skills, and having experiences that would you would very much likely not have otherwise. People can take advantage of this free college, taxes can be raised, and it can take more time for employees, but there is a way you can fix all of the problems. To be able to have free community college, there should be restrictions against it. If a student doesn’t have a 3.0 grade point average, or if as student doesn’t have a 18 or higher on their ACT, if the attendance is below 95%, and a high school diploma. if there requirements aren’t met, then you shouldn’t allow free community college to that particular person. In conclusion, I believe free community college should be allowed.
There is a major debate among the groups of people of all aspects of the world that does the success is just with the individuals who finish their college level degree?
