To me that define a great leader, an individual who puts his personal concerns aside to focus on the needs of others to help mankind grow for the greater good. I will briefly describe MLK brief bio of his life, leadership style, and leadership characteristics. MLK’s “I Have a Dream” is by far his famous speech, has inspired and touch the hearts of countless of people, not only in America but throughout the world. It shows that with dedication, hard work, courage, determination, and numerous of other great qualities, you can make anything happen. MLK was born Michael Luther King, Jr. but later changed his name to Martin.
America is known throughout the world as “the land of opportunity.” We are the land where everybody has an equal opportunity to succeed and the right to enjoy life, cherish liberty and pursue happiness. This ideal is even written in the very document which freed us from the rule of Britain, the Declaration of Independence –“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, which among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” With founding documents which promise such great potential, it is almost difficult to fathom one could ever find true happiness. In American society, we are told that ‘happiness’ is defined by how high one’s status is, how large of a bank account one has, and the amount of materialistic goods one possess. What is not emphasized, however, is that happiness is interpreted by an individual’s own personal definition. Therefore, happiness is subjective.
Nerves of Steel History 11 10/31/12 Andrew Carnegie is hailed as a man who has done many great services to this nation. While this belief is true and his efforts are numerously noted, Andrew Carnegie remains a man just like the rest of us. He has had his struggles and he has had his triumphs. Like most of us, he came from humble beginnings, and like all of us at some point in our lineage, walked through the doors of Ellis Island and stepped foot on American soil to realize a dream: a dream of a better life, a dream of success, and a dream of endless possibilities. Andrew Carnegie and his family had just become part of the glorious melting pot that we call the United States - a land where hard-working men and women can realize their full potential and achieve greatness (much like Carnegie was destined to do).
The second sentence says that he has created one of the greatest inventions ever and different people have used it to make new and approved products. The last sentence translates that he’s proud of his accomplishment and that the world has benefited from it. Hopefully, people have taken these words and realized how lucky they are and are indeed touched by the fact that he said this. All of the things that I said before were ways that Charles Goodyear has touched many lives. He has a great history behind him even with a harsh life.
The myth of the American Dream, orchestrated originally through oral narration, is the pursuit of prosperity and opportunities that drives people to push their own limits and persevere in order to lead successful lives and achieve whatever goals they set. While the term brings to mind a suburban house, a family with two kids, and the self made man, for many citizens The American Dream is the reality that every citizen of the United States of America has the opportunity of achievement no matter what prejudices they may face, depending on their perseverance and luck. No matter what race, religion, or ethnicity someone is, they all have the same exact chance at success, if they persevere hard enough. If everyone works hard to achieve their goals and ultimately, their own personal American Dream, then they will succeed in their efforts. This dream, beautiful in theory, of equality and a fair chance at upward mobility regardless of race, is exactly that: a dream.

Roth) Voltaire believed that on the surface, it; El Dorado, appeared to be everything that Pangloss ever dreamed of. Which means that Candide thought it was too good to be true. He, Voltaire, envisioned the inhabitants of El Dorado as being compassionate and stunning; he saw the government as unbiased and rewarding, and it is known that the culture seemed to breathe the very spirit of Voltaire’s enlightenment movement.
Two famous thinkers that deserve a large amount of credit for their work and are the subjects of this paper are Martin Luther King Jr. and Andrew Cohen. Both of these individuals influenced society in their own unique way by inspiring people to look at the big picture and make positive changes in their lives.
