Encouraging and establishing student self-control through a process of promoting positive student achievement and behavior is what every classroom needs. Classroom rules and procedures should be established with students the first week of school. Each student should have full understanding and be aware of what is expected of him/her. Providing a safe learning environment where students can participant is a key factor in classroom management. A student needs to feel comfortable with themselves, others, and the teacher, so there can be meaningful discussion and interactions.
It is important that the teacher appreciate any input from their students, whether the answer is correct or not. This openness will instil confidence and motivation from within the group and help their learning experience. To create a positive learning environment, with a clear structure, a teacher needs to have the ability to plan their lectures or sessions effectively. With clear goals and aims which match up with the curriculum. These lessons need to be creative, incorporate activities and techniques that will engage the learner.
A teacher with high expectations for his or herself will ultimately pass that quality on to their students. Caring comes naturally for great teachers. When a teacher genuinely cares for the students entrusted to them, they are able to reach them with greater ease. Great teachers make their classroom a place where caring is the norm. In a climate of care, students are more inclined to take up for each other, protect each other, and teach others how to care.
Now a freshman in college, teachers still praise me to use in (as well as students in my classes) in school projects, essays, and artwork to be as creative as possible. If anything teachers don't try to diminish creativity they encourage it! They give us constant exercises to practice the use of our creativeness. Sometimes they even reward a certain person in the class for the most creative piece of work by giving them extra
As a teacher you groom and mold your students always teaching them new criteria they need to know for their future. That is why as an educator I want to continue my own enlightenment by obtaining a Master’s degree. By becoming a principal it enables me to become a lifelong learner by observing great teachers, support disenfranchised students by being the constant figure at the school as kids move from class to class or from district to district but most of all I would get the opportunity to watch the students grow over their entire school grade career, not only physically but mentally and
In high school I was in the future educators association. As well as the class that was involved in the group. We went to schools in our area and helped the teachers and helped us decide if teaching was right for us. This meant that we had to make lesson plans, keep peace and order in classroom, as assist students when help was needed. This was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience for me and my fellow classmates.
I want to experiment with what builds a sense of community, support, care, and motivation in my classroom and I assume this will take place in many forms. Torey sought out and found ways to communicate and build relationships with her students, some of the time these ways were non-verbal and rather based on feeling; I hope to create the same sort of atmosphere in my classroom, to have those important one on one moments with my students. This passage in the book also reminded me of a recent conversation I had with my supervising teacher about the hiring process. She told me that some of the best teachers have the worst interviews, but when she’s looking for a potential teacher she relies mostly on intuition; if she believes an individual truly loves children, she is much more likely to hire them regardless of their interview. (Of course the individual would have to demonstrate some basic competencies) The passage also made me think of the beauty of the teaching profession and how it really is difficult to explain to a non-teacher; there are so many small and large events that happen on a daily basis in the academic world that creates a world of amazement and appreciation for the growing
Assessments are a crucial part of education and there is a need to measure where student are at in order to adjust curriculum and motivation. This needs to be done carefully and with very high consideration of the student’s emotional well-being. Rewards systems and positive reinforcement are crucial to creating a supportive environment that students want to be present in. * Nurturing- Creating a love for learning will make learning easier. Finding ways to make the material fun, engaging, and easy to comprehend will nurture a love of learning.
I began to love me and know that I am wonderful being who I am and most of all being real with myself. My experience has taught me that becoming an effective counselor; you will make some decisions that are good and not so good all in the desire to help others. At this stage of my career and with the help of my educational journey I have learned and still learning to first nurture myself and use techniques along with tools to met the participants where he or she is at. Most of all it is essential to institute a cooperative relationship and to create and sustain consistent but flexible
Those awarded Qualified Teacher Status must demonstrate that 'They have high expectations of pupils and build successful relationships, centred on teaching and learning. They establish a purposeful learning environment where diversity is valued and where pupils feel secure and confident.' This criterion has become the foundation for my teaching and I consider the creation of a positive learning environment an important feature of a successful lesson and any form of misbehaviour disturbs that environment. Behaviour management has proved very challenging for me, and as can be seen from my weekly evaluations, it was a constantly recurring issue throughout Block A. During Block A, I intended to manage the behaviour in my classroom effectively, but the approach I took was inappropriate.
