Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation University of Phoenix Michelle Dale March 25, 2012 Instructor: Greg Moore Introduction Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was founded in 1994 their ‘belief was that every life has equal value’. This lead the foundation to help improve people’s health and giving them a chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. ( their passion is to uplift the individuals in any a particular way either by housing, education, food, and heath services. Facts about the Organization There are three programs that are mainly directed at they include Global Development, Global Health, and United States Program. The Global Development focuses on high impact areas where poverty is high and support the community helps those who are high in need. They offer agricultural development, financial services for the poor, water and sanitation hygiene, special initiatives such as libraries and policy advocacy. Global Health focused on developing ways to fight and prevent enteric and diarrheal diseases, HIV/AIDS, malaria, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and neglected and other infectious diseases. They also work together towards family planning, maternal and neonatal and child health. United States Program main focus is on education they work to make sure high school students graduate ready for success and prepared to earn postsecondary degrees. They fund college and graduate school scholarships. They support high-quality early learning programs in Washington State. ( Funding Opportunities Global Development has received over $3,613,000,000 in funding, Global Health $15,217,000,000 in funding, and United States Program $6,236,000,000 in funding.
