It is unique for most film directors to do so, but for this film Spike Lee used his actors in perfect roles. I liked how he based the movie in one block so the audience doesn’t get confused from the story. The best part of the scene was when he told Ponyboy to stay gold; that part was the most convincing, since it looked like he was actually dying and because of the way he said it. Taken as a whole, Johnny’s character was depicted excellently, though Matt Dillion was definitely the top dog of this film. Matt Dillion did an outstanding job at playing the role of Dally. In the scene that Johnny died, Matt Dillion’s body language and emotions matched the description of the book very well; he looked very distraught and depressed. This scene was also a great scene because Dally’s character finally showed his true colors, and it was illustrated as well as it was in the book, possibly even better.
Coming back to clear the town from bad guys and risking his life for people that even don’t want his help is not foolishness, it’s heroism. It’s just different kind of hero than Wayne. Taking justice in his hands and killing the bad guys is still heroism (recall Odysseus). Wayne is an obvious hero during the entire movie. Cooper is a hero as well, but nobody sees that until he has finished shooting and the end of the movie.
Rachel grew up, went through her dating stage, and then finally met a wonderful man that she could not picture herself without; a caring, positive, supportive husband that goes by the name of Tim. He will always look back at his previous progress report and look at his grammar and how much he knew. Now he can’t even use normal everyday vocabulary. He will always remember how much he once loved Miss Kinnian so much and now he can’t even talk to her right without having her cry.
However, he was still able to go through his life like that. The quote doesn't apply to All Quiet on the Western Front because Paul Baumer and his friends trusted the officials and this ended up leading to the death of all of them. "... It is impossible to go through life without trust..." This quote does not apply to The Catcher in the Rye because Holden Caulfield, the main character believes everyone is phony and doesn't trust anyone which is a major flaw. Beneatha hates assimilationist because they show no pride or respect in for their heritage. Walter may act like a fool at times but he may have more pride than any of the Youngers. He shows that he proud of his family when he says; " We have decided to move into our house because my father-my father- he earned it for us brick by brick". The first reason is that Giosué was more worried about winning the game then he was on staying alive because he did not think about the possibility that he could be killed. The other reason way this technique worked and saved Giosué was because he did everything his father told him to do because he thought that would help him win the tank. An example of Giosué listening to his father was when Guido says, "Go hide in that box, quick! Don't come out. You're not to come out until it's completely quiet and nobody is in sight, just to be safe"(Life is Beautiful).
The war has changed Leper because he was an innocent kid who’d never hurt a fly, but he changed. Yelling at Gene like this was not good because he most likely lost a friend over it. Finally Gene stood up for himself and stopped letting people push him around. He left Leper and that was for the god. Gene does not need any more drama in his life to make his situation back at home any worse.
But because he was distracted he couldn’t do anything. Even though it wasn’t his fault he felt guilty and his thoughts would overcome him. An example is “Later we heard that Strunk died somewhere over Chu Lai, which seemed to relive Dave Jensen of an enormous weight.” Dave Jensen feels guilty for not killing Lee Strunk and putting him out of his misery. It seems as if the soldiers are in a damned if you don’t situation. Jensen would probably have felt guilty if he killed Strunk as per their original pact, but not killing his friend made him feel guilty, too.
