"Formal educational credentials should be the most important factor in hiring employees." Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations or reading. Ans: The assertion that Formal educational credentials should be the most important factor in hiring employees - is a controversial one. On the one hand, formal education credentials reflect the student's core ability of the fundamental knowledge. On the other hand, skills that might be required during employment might not be achieved just by formal education. Thus, in the final analysis, formal education credentials should not be the most important factor in hiring employees. Firstly, commercial sector requires better communication ability and business etiquette. Communication is a skill rather than a part of formal education. It cannot be developed in a classroom. It requires real life exposure. For instance, in business deals the customer support and client communication as well as convincing ability are considered to be the most important factor for company's point of view. However, only formal credentials do not guarantee such skills which are really essential. Secondly, formal credentials may be biased. Some students may have inherent ability to do well but due to inappropriate practice by educator he/she might have suffered low credentials. Thus formal education does not guarantee unbiased results. Instead an aptitude test must be relied upon that is unbiased and gives a true reflection of candid of particular employee. Some other situations that might have affected educational credentials of candidate which includes a sort of anomaly during his/her credential year that might not support final analysis of candidates' ability and skills.
