As growing up and still intrigue about learning more english, shockingly there is more that must be learn. Learning the importance of English I gained hobbies, education, and my writting technique. Finding what is most helpful for meeting the goals set out in the standards may be difficult for a new teacher. Setting high standards and clear goals for students help set them up for their future, make them feel valued and have a goal to reach for. Close-Reading is a careful and purposeful way of reading that help the students to actually comprehend what they are reading and in turn makes reading more desirable. Additionally text-based evidence aides in the understanding and comprehension by providing students with well structured and purposeful text. There are so many times in my life I wish I could go back to my early education years and pay closer attention to what I was being taught.
If I want to teach a topic, I should try to learn as much as I can about it and never stop learning Spanish, this is also one of my goals. Another thing I could learn more about, are teaching methods, and classroom management. I feel that a reason I don’t know too much about teaching is because I haven’t taken enough education classes. I should take more classes on those subjects to improve my subjects. The final thing that I think I need to approve on is
Looking back on my English experience here at Torrance High I believe I have learned a lot. In my last year at middle school they had us pick our scheduled for the next year at Torrance High, I decided to go into the honors program for English( it was one of my stronger subjects). I got I think the best English 1 teacher in the school. Mr. Duvall taught me a better way to organize the information I had read. I got a B first semester.
In class we all as a whole had to read, "The Lord of the Flies", "The Catcher in the Rye", and "Macbeth". All of these books were amazing to read but when it came to writing the essays for them, I believe that my favorite and most interesting was "The Lord of the Flies", which is one of my favorite books to this day. "The Lord of the Flies" had such a brilliant story line and it kept me interested as I read on. Junior year was a big year for writing essays because of the two regents that were required that year for us. The regents for junior year was, the English Regents and the U.S. History regents.

Also thanks to the novel I had read I improved a lot my reading. I can say that my writing has improved a lot thanks to the work of writing that our ESL teacher sent us. In short, I have improved my English skills. In conclusion, this first year in Essex has helped me to realize how it actually is college. I have also learned that I have done bad and good things in this first year of college.
My skills in reflecting on my own work have developed and I set myself daily targets, ensuring I meet them. The staff that I have worked with at both of my placements have been motivational. The English departments constantly endeavour to be better, to achieve more and to support each other. I have modelled myself on the good practice I have seen around me consulting with other members of staff to discover the best ways in which I can support students. I am interested in working in a dynamic, forward thinking and inspiring environment and I believe NCHS School would provide that.
Donald Bear, Marcia Invernizzi, Shane Templeton, and Francine Johnston (2008) explain that there are two purposes for word studies. First is to help students develop a general knowledge of English spellings. Second, word study increases their specific knowledge of the spelling and meanings of words. Word studies are developmental because teachers must differentiate instruction for different levels of word knowledge (Bear et. Al, 2008).
I also passed along the passion to read and write. As an adult I used this knowledge to apply my reading to researching and allowing me to attain better jobs and further my career, teaching my child. My career involved working with the Internal Revenue Service and eventually steered me to apply for a job at the Clovis-Carver Library. Attaining the job made reading become a big part of my life again. I was able to become more knowledgeable about the authors and their style of writing.
