It was confusing to tell what he narrators true feelings were throughout the story, but I believed that he loved his brother. When his brother couldn’t walk and the narrator was kind of ashamed of him, he secretly started to try to teach him how to walk. The reason he started teaching him how to walk might have been selfish but I do think that he did care about
His clear memory, after fifteen years, of the events that took place with these friends, showed how much these boys not only meant to him then, but also how much they shaped the man he had become. There were not many occasions when they show much friendship toward one another. When Finny finally realized that Gene betrayed him, he began to run and he fell down a flight of stairs and broke his leg again. This probably gave Gene insight into what war really was all about. When Gene went he realized that Leper was Away With Out Leave and the war had caused him to go insane.
He is a mean and uncaring person. He yelled at Bud for saying that he was Bud’s father. When Bud said he lived with a family that adopted him and he ran away from them, Herman just said we are sending you back to where you came from. The book takes place in 1936, in Flint, Michigan. Bud’s mother passed away in her sleep.
He will always remember how much he once loved Miss Kinnian so much and now he can’t even talk to her right without having her cry. He might always want to have that feeling of being smart, but he will never get the chance. Charlie will always be remembered for being dumb, foolish, and the first human to fail to triple his IQ, not for the sweet, kind, nice young man that he really was. Charlie was a young man with a lot of desire to read; unfortunately that great desire led him to a horrible experience. He actually risked his life and tried to triple his IQ, by going through a surgery.

Both examples show how each of the boys are opposed to face their own realities, and because of this they end up hurting themselves. Other similarities between both characters are displayed throughout the stories also. Such as, in the book, Finney finds out Gene pushes him off the tree on purpose, and Finney doesn’t want to ask why because he “believes [him],” and that it would crush Finney (Knowles 191). Since he cannot bear to face the circumstances, consequently Finney, who became “increasingly dependent on Gene,” dies with a broken heart (Telgen). The joy they had stemmed from a new belief that they were not just waiting for Doodle to die but to live a full life. It was in that moment that Doodle became a brother rather than an invalid. If Brother had not been afraid of embarrassment at school doodle would have never left the wagon. This story shows the effective of pride as positive and negative ways. It’s a sad story between the life of brother’s pride and the death of his brother.
It was a reflex, a “survival of the fittest” reaction that Gene did out of anger, fear, and confusion. He is already the “odd one out” and Finny seems to be his only real friend. This secret would destroy Gene’s rekindled friendship with Finny that has reached a happy, placid level. Gene recalls, “I shoved my foot against the rung of his chair and kicked,” (145). He loses himself in his emotions, but he struggles to control himself while “evolving the right way” (125) in order to survive.
Later, however, the author uses the same description for his creator Victor as he soon becomes “so miserable a wretch”, demonstrating how they ultimately face the same fate. One may also recognise that both Frankenstein and the creature seem to share a strong need for the support and love of a family. Even though Victor often acts quite egoistical, he sincerely loves his family. Without them, he feels life is pointless, which is evident when he contemplates suicide, “I was tempted to plunge into the silent lake”, but he decides against it as it would cause too much pain for his loved ones, “But I was restrained, when I thought of the heroic and suffering Elizabeth”. Here we saw Elie’s feelings towards his father really come through. He doesn’t want to find his father. This shocked me when I read it because he was so against this when he saw it happening to other father-son duos. He said he would never wish he didn’t have his dad because he was the only family left. It’s sad to think that his feelings changed when he was put in the exact situation.
