Physical Forces South Korea is located in Eastern Asia (See map in Appendix 1), once part of the Korean peninsula now divided with the northern part as the communist North Korea on the northern part. South Korea’s immediate neighbors include China on the west bordered by Yellow Sea; and Japan along the eastern part bordered by Japan Sea (CIA, 2009). The country measures 99,720 sq km just a bit bigger than the US state of Indiana (CIA, 2009). Seoul is the country’s capital and largest city which is also one of the world’s largest city and the world’s second largest metropolitan area inhabited by more than 10 million populations (Marquette University, 2009). The division of Korean State, with North Korea adopting communism ideologies supported by the then USSR while the South Korea opted promulgation of Capitalism with the support of US, a military demarcation line was designated marking the territory boundaries of the two Koreas since 1953 (CIA, 2009). South Korea encounters periodic clashes with North Korea with incidents in Northern Limiting Line claimed by South Korea as the maritime boundary.
