The unfortunate part is that they are still there when the parents arrive home early to discover their, still very drunk, babysitter with some extra people in their home. The rumours about the girl that ensue after this unintended night of debauchery cause the girl to get a reputation as a bad girl and as a result she loses her social status and all of her babysitting clients. In the story “All the years of her life” by Morely Callahan, the narrator tells us about an incident in which Alfred Higgins is caught stealing goods from his employer’s store. His employer, Mr. Carr then calls Alfred’s mother who rushes down to the store to bail him out of the sticky situation. Thanks to Alfred’s mother’s simple earnestness and humility when talking to Mr. Carr, the worst he gets is to lose his job.

While Stephanie is under incarceration Ellie is staying with his grandmother. His grandmother seems to be a bitter old woman who has a negative effect on everything. She feels Ellie’s mother is not a real criminal, but I feel if she was dumb for taking the wrap for a man that was her boyfriend and not even a husband. He did not stand up for his lady. Seemed to me that grandmother has a case of hatred.
I didn’t want to shoot him, ‘course I didn’t. He was my best friend; I had him to look after me, and me to look after him. We were gonna get a ranch and live the American Dream... To her parents she is an unlucky child because her mother died giving birth to her. She is treated differently to her other siblings. Niag is Fathers new wife. She is an evil, mean stepmother who always makes sure Adeline is treated badly. Father is Adeline’s dad who always goes along with what Niag says.
Her father was able to provide Florence with the best education. Florence Nightingale was always trying to help anyone around her, even from a young age. She ministered to the ill and poor people. At 16, she decided to pursue the career of nursing, trying to help as many people as possible. Her parents were upset and forbid her from becoming a nurse.
In 2009 16 children died in New Zealand because of abuse by their own family members. That’s about one every 23 days. Another example is when Shamia Lawson ordered her 9 year old son to sit in the bath tub while she poured five pots of boiling water over him. Lawson told him if he got out she would hit him with her belt. Straight after she had burned him she made him clean the kitchen despite his complaints of his badly blistered feet.
