I remember it like it was yesterday, the first time we met. It happened on a beautiful sunny day in May of 2009. It was summer break and I was about to embark on my first cruise. This was a bittersweet moment in my life because I did not know what to expect from the journey that I was about to go on, but I was ready. As I entered the cruise ship my mind began to explore all the possibilities that could come from the trip. I entered the ship, placed my bag down, and immediately went to the cafeteria. I had been told by most of the people that I told about my trip that most of the food on the cruise was free, and I was about to find out. On top of being free the food was laid out on an all-you-can-eat buffet. I was in heaven. I started my trip off the right way with fried chicken, fries and pizza. Once I was finished with that I topped it off with two ice cream cones. This was now my favorite place on the ship, and I hadn’t even seen anything else.
At the time of this trip I was a boring person that did not like to try anything new, especially food. Little did I know, I was in for a big surprise. Each of the nights that passed, my family and I had to have a formal night. During this, a chef would prepare a dish of your choice from a special menu. The only thing about this menu is that it had a very selective list to choose from. Because I didn’t eat just anything, this was probably the only part of the trip I didn’t like. Luckily, I escaped the hard choice the first night because they had Chicken Alfredo. I did not get so lucky the second night, “seafood night,” because I didn’t see anything I would eat.
The family got dressed and arrived at the formal dinner just as we had done the previous night. Entering the restaurant, I was hoping that choosing something off the menu would be a breeze. We sat down at the table joking and laughing, just as we had previously
