Folk Music Concert Report Folk music was invented as a way to tell various stories. Throughout many generations and different cultures, people sang ballads and songs which were transmitted vocally, without being written. Folk music is a way of reflecting one’s personality. No wonder, it has influenced the world. By creating a new beat, the music helped to express how the story was told and how the person felt. The concept of folk music intended to entertain and enjoy the common people. The people threw themselves into a dance regardless of age. That still happens in modern folk music. The main distinction between folk music and other musical styles is using unusual instruments. That includes accordions, harmonicas, various string instruments, and many more. Being at the concert and listening to each instrument, I imagined that I was in the Middle Ages. The performers with folk dresses on made the atmosphere unforgettable. That is the second main distinction in performing particular musical genre. My personal reaction was tremendous. First of all, I liked the way the performers entered into communication with the audience. Singing from the heart, they held the room’s attention. One of the songs that captured my interest was a beautiful ode to friendship. That song influenced me by sincerity of how the performer tried to bring the words to us. As I could understand, the singer was inspired by going through his own emotional experience. The performers also seemed to be having a great time interacting with each other during some songs. They smiled, nodded and clapped to one another. Their friendship was expressed both in the lyrics and the actions on the stage.
