Fnac Fnac is a french company that was founded in 1954 by André Essel and Max Théret. It is a public company and its headquarters are in Clichy, France. The company name stands for Fédération nationale d’achats des cadres and is an international chain retail company that offers cultural and electronic products. It is the largest retailer of its kind in France and currently holds stores in 9 countries throughout the europe and the world. The industry that the company works within is the entertainment retail industry. Fnac sells products under the category of audio, books, CDs, DVDs, Games, and Computers. They also have a service within the photography industry and live entertainment through ticket sales. Fnac owns 207 retail locations all within Belgium, Brazil, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan. The key people within the company Fnac are Denis Olivennes (CEO), Christophe Cuvillier (President), Fabien Sfez (Director of French stores) and Eric Angiboust (Global development director). In 2007 Fnac's revenue was of €584 million and had a net income of €199 million. The company currently has a total of 19,366 employees. Company History Both the company's founders André Essel and Max Théret were part of the young socialist movement in france. They decided to found Fnac in order to supply products to workers who had increasing purchasing power a relatively affordable price. With this aspect in mind Fnac and it's founders were able to keep to their true socialist beliefs. The company currently provides its customers with a variety of different products, advice from its employees as a form of customer service, product checks in an independent test centre to make sure their products are to correct standard and removing those that do not comply with their list of product requirements and customer satisfaction.
