Toothpaste or dentifrice is a key element in ensure daily dental and oral hygiene. A variety of dentifrice – paste, gels even tooth power – offering an assortment of benefits from tooth whitening to gum care – are available in the stores, catering to the specific requirements of the customer. There are more than seven major toothpaste brand in Bangladesh – including global brands such as Pepsodent from Unilever, available in various categories. There are four major benefits that toothpaste brand focus on while marketing: 1. Toothpaste that fight cavity Fluoride toothpastes are used to strengthen teeth enamel and fight tooth decay. Often doctors suggest patients with cavity problem to use fluoride toothpaste. Pepsodent, AM PM and so on are some of the major fluoride toothpaste brands in the country. 2. Toothpaste for sensitive teeth When the dentin, the sensitive part of the tooth containing the nerve ending are exposed, one feels acute pain, when the never endings come into contact external elements like hot/cold water. To address this problem special toothpaste, such as Sensodyne, Pepsodent, and so on are now available in the market. 3. Toothpaste that relieve bad breathe There are toothpaste brands in the market that promise to help customers fight bad breath, such as Close-up and Aquafresh. Unpleasant odor released during breathing is a major cause of embarrassment in public, and many customers, while buying toothpaste, choose one that offers to rid them of this nuisance. 4. Toothpaste to whiten teeth Flaunting white teeth is a social esteem boost for man. Often due to prolonged smoking or caffeine intake, teeth become yellow and stained, and to remove such unpleasant, unwanted stain, people prefer to use whitening toothpaste.
