Running Head: FIRST DAY ON THE JOB “First Day on the Job” HRM 530 Abstract On the first day of a new job, one is usually very nervous. There are new employees to meet and training and getting used to the feel of the organization. For a new manager, it may be intimidating for the current employees since they do not know their temperament. A new manager will need to learn each employee’s temperament as well. This may take some time for the adjustment to take full effect. But for Malik it will have to happen soon. His now top performer is unhappy with her current work life and is contemplating leaving to pursue something new and exciting. This paper will discuss the factors causing her dissatisfaction and how these factors can be handled with developmental tools. It will also discuss what Malik should do to prevent his employees from leaving by using these tools and HR policies and development programs that help with employees who are feeling unhappy with their work life. Discuss the factors causing the employee’s dissatisfaction. The employee’s dissatisfaction is caused by a few different factors, but the main factor seems to be that the employee is burned out. In other words the employee is in a funk, everything they are doing seems pointless to them but they know it needs to be done. The employee is burned out and needs something new to work on or the organization is a risk of losing a top performer. This is not uncommon for an employee to hit a point in their career where they feel they need something more to challenge them; this is especially common for someone who is an expert or top performer in their field. They need something new and innovative to work on once their current project levels out and the excitement is gone. This employee’s main career goal is to own her own business and feels that her current path has stopped her from achieving this
