Since then the business went uphill till the death of the founder of the large corporation. Walt Disney was a leader with much charisma and a lot of good ideas, but he didn’t manage to train his management team to work independently. By the 1960s, the company had developed a diversified foundation, with the Disney brand firmly established in a wide range of film products (live action and animation), as well as television, theme parks, and merchandise, but the management couldn’t keep their advantages over the competitors. The company began to pay much attention to real estate rather than entertainment, drawing into the theme parks expansion. Meanwhile, its film production division began to experience large losses, as long as the management was closed to the new opportunities of media and cinema trends and was used to looking back and wondering what Walt Disney would do.

In its first two decades, Walt Disney Productions was a struggling cartoon studio that introduced the world to its most famous character ever, Mickey Mouse. Few believed in Disney’s vision at the time, but the smashing success of cartoons with sound and the first-ever full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in 1937 led, over the next three decades, to other animated classics including Pinocchio, nimbi, Cinderella, and Peter Pan, love action films such as Mary Poppins and The Love Bug, and television series like Davy Crockett. When Walt Disney died in 1966, he was considered the best-known person in the world. By then the company had expanded the Disney brand into film, television, consumer products, and Disneyland in southern California, its first theme park, where families could experience the magic of Disney in real life. After Walt’s death, Roy Disney took over as CEO and realized Walt’s dream of opening the 24,000-acre Walt Disney World theme park in Florida.
In his childhood, Mozart’s father often brought his only son and daughter touring around Europe to perform in courts and for nobility, and this greatly broadened Mozart’s vision and also built up a foundation for his music career later on. In his later years, he composed over six hundred compositions including concertos, symphonies, sonatas, chamber music and operas which earned him a great acclaim. In 1791, four years after his father’s death, Mozart died of military fever and ended his short but prolific musical life. (Henley, 2005) The term “Mozart effect” originated in 1993 at the University of California, Irvine, when physicist Gordon Shaw and cognitive development expert Frances Rauscher did an experiment on a few dozen college students for measuring spatial IQ. They found that students who listened to 10 minutes of Mozart’s K448 piano sonata had scored 8 to 9 points higher than the other two groups of students either listening to a tape of relaxation instructions or sitting in silence.

Even though neither one of these hit the billboard 200 nor “attracted” any major label companies, Nirvana was satisfied with what they had accomplished; they had become very popular among college students and the British weekly press by selling 35,000 copies of their unique, indie style music (Erlewine). With a small following, Nirvana took the world by storm with their second album “Nevermind” at the end of 1989 with several hits (Erlewine).
