Wali Ghafar July 9, 2012 English 1D Movie Critique Jurassic Park (Movie Critique) For most critics and audiences, Jurassic Park has been considered one the most groundbreaking films of our lifetime. This is due to the fact that the special effects surpassed the expectations of movie goers and movie critics, as well as holding a more realistic plot that seems believable to the audience. Most films portray a fantasy storyline that is completely unrealistic, such as the Terminator or Event Horizon. But, then again, they are meant for entertainment. Jurassic Park holds a plot that is more representative of reality and still engages the audience through suspense and terror. In this paper, I will discuss the numerous factors that make Jurassic Park a successful film. The special effects do not just steal the show, but captivate the imagination of future filmmakers to completely change their perspective on computer generated images. The plot of Jurassic Park takes place during modern times. A multimillion dollar company discovers a new and innovative way to clone dinosaurs. They extract the blood of prehistoric mosquitos in fossilized “amber” to find dinosaur DNA. As a result, they manage to clone most of the species that were existent during the Jurassic period and open a theme park that is designed to be a tourist attraction. During a preview of the island, the park suffers a huge power outage, which allows the animals to break free and take over the island. Regardless of being a science fiction film, Jurassic Park seems to follow a more realistic plot compared to other science fiction films. It is possible that we could clone extinct animals from fossilized mosquitos and build a theme park to generate revenue. Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly states that “Jurassic Park lacks emotional quality of Speilberg’s other classics,” such as Jaws and E.T,
