There are many traditions and activities that I think we should continue to practice. For example, praying the rosary. It is by far the most practiced prayer for us Catholics. It is composed of twenty decades of Hail Mary and twenty Rosary mysteries. Some might say that it is a waste of time to do this or even call it blasphemy but I think it’s fine and okay to pray it whether or not it’s useless to others. Even Pope Francis urged us Catholics to pray the rosary to fight against evil when it was August 2013. On Palm Sunday, most of us will buy palms from vendors or even little kids down the street selling them. Why do we do this? Why do we buy palms or even make palms for Palm Sunday? Palms are used on Palm Sunday to symbolize the palms that were laid in the ground for Jesus when he entered Jerusalem. And after they are finished with the palms they will burn them for the ashes for Ash Wednesday. Not only do they symbolize but also some palms that people use are homemade and some are quite creative and lovely to see too. One that I think we should really continue is Simbang Gabi or a Night Mass. It is held from December 16 to December 24 and is usually done as early in 3 to 5 in the morning. On the last day of the Simbang Gabi, which is Christmas Eve, it is called Misa De Gallo, which translates to “ Rooster’s Mass”.
