Fiji Water and Corporate Social Responsibility – Green Makeover or Greenwashing Introduction McMaster & Nowak (2009) prepared this case to discuss the corporate background and 2 operations of FIJI Water LLC and its subsidiary, Natural Waters of Viti Ltd, the company in FIJI engaged in extracting, bottling, and marketing of artesian water from a virgin ecosystem found on the island of Viti Levu, Fiji. Fiji Water LLC was established in 1993 by David Gilmour who later sold his investment Roll International Corporation in 2004. The case has discussed the rapid growth and market expansion of FIJI Water LLC and its famous bottled water brand name, FIJI Water. FIJI Water LLC, with its production facilities in Fiji, has expanded its business rapidly over the years, and exported its bottles to many countries. Later, the case discussed how FIJI Water LLC dealt with various issues of corporate social responsibility (CSR), such as the issue of carbon footprint on its production, responsibilities to the stakeholders, and relations and various legal issues with the Fiji authorities on tax incentives, export duty claims, and transfer pricing issues.
