A festival or gala is an event, usually and ordinarily staged by a local community, which centers on and celebrates some unique aspect of that community and the Festival.
Among many religions, a feast is a set of celebrations in honour of God or gods. A feast and a festival are historically interchangeable. However, the term "feast" has also entered common secular parlance as a synonym for any large or elaborate meal. When used as in the meaning of a festival, most often refers to a religious festival rather than a film or art festival.
We celebrate festivals because of the traditons laid out by our family and and our forefathers for generations, by which we are socially recognised in our society. We blindly follow it as a habit, without questioning why. It is good for the society as festivals bring a large group of people together, unity follows and a sense of happiness to attend the functions with many families together results.in happiness and a sense of well-being in a world where terrorism is prevalent, festivals and their celebrations are very colourful and preferable.

Festivals have many stories , customs and traditions connected to them. Religious festivities bring with it a time for bonding with close family and friends ! We can see that many people prefer to spend festival time with their loved and close family members. This one aspect is common to all Religious festivals and to that extent one should appreciate the role it plays in making people happy !
