Female Soldiers on the Front Line Currently, women in the military are not allowed to serve on the front lines of battle and I agree with this decision. On television you see the commercials with the slogan “Anything you can do I can do better.” Maybe some women can be better soldiers than some men, but that doesn't mean that women should be allowed to be on the front lines during battle. Putting a woman on the front lines of battle with men will compromise the mission. Men are human and will go out of their way to protect a woman, even if it costs him his life. And, until our country is ready to treat a captured, raped, tortured and mutilated female soldier just like a man, women should not be placed on the front lines of battle. This country and our military are not prepared to see what the enemy will do to a female soldier when she is captured and becomes a Prisoner of War. The enemy be it the Taliban, insurgents, Jihadis, whatever we want to call them, do not abide by the Geneva Conventions. They treat women worse than livestock. Women will be targeted by the enemy without fail and without mercy. How will our military men feel after seeing what the enemy has done to his female comrade? A female just like his mother, wife, sister or daughter. Military men will begin focusing on protecting the women in combat rather than focusing on the real target which is his enemy. Thus, male lives will be lost trying to protect his female comrade. Putting a female solider on the front line of battle is not about whether she can meet the male standards because most females probably can. It’s about being practical. Can a 5’3” female soldier in full gear, drag a 6’4” 290lb man in full gear a 100 yards quickly out of danger if she had too?
