It is nonsense that the ban that prevents women from serving in combat battles has just recently been lifted. The government should be ashamed of themselves, especially after the tremendous effort women committed in the 1800's and 1900's to receive equal rights as men. Women are just as capable to succeed in combat, physically and mentally. The people who are against lifting the combat ban are sexist and blinded by their pomposity. They do not see how women serving their country will effect the battlefield in the most excellent ways.
There are some arguments that being combat is just only for male and women should be banned from military jobs. In contrastwomen should be in combat is supported by many people. Leon Panetta- Defense Secretary, he has lifted the military's ban on women serving in combat on his announcement, it allows women into many front-line positions in combat. According to Williams (2013), " today Panette is acknowledging that to maintain the high standards of military, assignments should be based on ability, not gender". Surely, gender is not the main factor to decide that who can do good job in military because women can be a good sodier in some duties.
Name: Tran Hoang Son ID: s3373169 Group: 2 Assessment 2 – Critical Response No Women In Combat In the article, “ No Women in Combat”, published in Presidential Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces 1992, Report to the President, November 15, Darren Graves(2008) states that women do not have enough conditions to serve in army although Women have claimed being just as tough as men that they could serve in army like other men. Darren Graves also said that women may have another spot in military but not combat situation. The author is fail on several points, he corrects to consider several important issues. The author claims that a woman is not a person, who had mentally tough enough to survive in combat situation.
First, many women want to serve their country and fight for it, rather than serve in behind the scenes functions. Second, because women do not serve in active combat roles in many areas of the armed forces, they do not face the threat of a draft, and many people feel that is unfair. More importantly, women in the military face several challenges their male counterparts do not face, such as pregnancy, menstruation, sexual harassment, the need to leave children at home for long periods of time, and gender issues. These issues can create emotional and physical barriers to a woman's performance, and they are perhaps the most contentious problems with women in the military. In recent months, I have had a chance to catch up with one of my neighbors who has just returned from her tour of Iraq.
Tran Trung Thao S3324298-G2 Final Draft Critical response to the article “No Women in Combat” After catastrophic wars, there was a huge amount of people that was mostly from military died to protect their countries and people lives for a beautiful future. Therefore, everyone can seem to feel the pains and agonies of the military, so calling women for the military service may be more likely unsatisfactory. This is also the reason for the appearance of the article “No Women in Combat” by Darren Graves from the Union of Military Men. The author shows three main points to prove that women are not fit to be in combat and some facts to supporting his ideas. The article is presented well with strong arguments but there are also some points that are needed to improve.
Nilufar Mohammad Professor brunkala English 302 11 January 2015 response one Part 1 Military Women in Combat: Why making it Official Matters.” McGregor was inspired to write this piece because many people are under the misconception that women and men are treated as equals and some may even argue that women have it easier than men. The purpose of this piece was to challenge those assumptions and make more people will be aware that women are not treated better than men nor are they treated From the article i learn that there are men and women working towards lifting the restrictions. McGregor informs us that “female soldiers began formally moving into jobs in previously all male battalions a result of rule changes following a February report that opened some 14,000 new positions to women
All over the country women were being murdered because of they violated a code of ethics designed by men to limit their independence and keep them in an inferior position. This may have been true, but because the right to suffrage was not going to be granted to all women no matter what their race these types of scenarios would continue to occur. Besides, women could still only hope to fix this problem because of the fact that men would still be running the country only now women would be able to partake in the selection of politicians. Allowing black men the right to suffrage first would at least be fair in the sense that someone in every family and walk of life would be represented in government decision making. That way issues that affect the black race could be addressed instead of only one color of people representing the United States as a
Women should not be allowed in front line combat in the Australian Defence Forces Ladies and Gentleman, my fellow comrades and defence minister Stephen Smith, thank you for giving me this chance to convey my views on a controversial issue that has been terrorising the Australian Defence Association. However, now, this subject has constructed into an ironic wall that has hindered the speech of those that served their very lives to protect our nation. A barricade has been erected by the obtuse media which paints loyal Australians soldiers like me as bigotry. But I will not scrutinised by those that possess an ignorant conception on the Australian defence force, because unlike them, I know how it’s like out there. I have paved my sweat and
Brinley Bruton, Staff Writer. This article also supports women in combat arms giving examples from other militaries and how they are constructed and how we should better our military by replicated their procedures. Though are we not a World Super Power should we not be the standard-bearers for military discipline and structure. It also should be known that by giving excuses to why women will or should not be allowed in combat arms is keeping this incorrigible proposition in place. Through media now Soldiers in Combat arms units will likely receive females differently because of how it has been portrayed, due to how they are supposed to respond instead of how they really feel.
It is letting women take the chance to fight for the country in a time of crisis just like men. Mrs. Quindlen is valid in stating that it makes a “mockery” of the nation to only let men register and not women. It is degrading of women to say that because they are women that they are not required registering for the draft to help in a crisis. A poll done about ten years ago showed that over half of the American population supported drafting women. Should America only lose its sons in battle?
