CHAPTER 1 MARKET STUDY Marketing is the business’ play-maker. It is the science and art of exploring, creating and delivering value to satisfy the needs of a target market at a profit. It defines, measures and quantifies the size of the identified market and the profit potential. It pinpoints which segments the business is capable of serving best and it designs and promotes the appropriate products and services. Marketing includes research, targeting, communications and often public relations. It is traditionally the means by which an organization communicates to, connects with, and engages its target audience to convey the value of and ultimately sell its products and services. The fundamental purpose of the marketing activity is the facilitation of mutually satisfying exchange between the parties. The market study consists of elements that a firm controls and uses its target market. These elements involve the description and price of the ventures to be rendered, the nature of competition, the place of distribution, the promotion developed to study the market, the different factors affecting the market of the services and lastly, the appropriate program for the services. The market study is considered as the lifeblood of all project feasibility study. A business’ concern is to implant a powerful marketing program to operate profitability. GENERAL OBJECTIVES a.
