The basketball court changed my life. I was familiar with the game of basketball from watching it on television but I never played organized or even a simple pick up game at the time. Once I found the basketball court, all I wanted to do was learn more of the game and play. I grew that ambition
Sitting in the same room where he watched his first basketball game. Memories of begging his mom to let him play and her reaction when he recently received his first scholarship offer. It seemed unreal how fast things happened. Waking up in his bed made it seem like the whole thing was just a dream. He began his day just like any other.
Walking off a stage, folding a microphone stand, or simply unlacing my shoes after a performance, for me, is done in a trance because I have left every ounce of my heart, spirit, nerves, and myself within the performance. If there is a moment where I am most vulnerable because I have exposed everything I am, then this is when I perform. Stepping onto a stage is like allowing the light inside of me to illuminate and fill my surroundings. There is no barrier between the audience and myself. I am free.
Now he feels as though he has a shell around him and knows that nobody will mess with him. He feels like he is in a whole different class from ordinary people, and that makes him walk a little taller. Of course Sam had some help along the way, and I found Tiny to be the inspiration of Sam, a coach of some sort. He was a short man, but wide with his muscles making him look like a block. He treated Sam well and taught him the ropes when everyone else made fun of him as soon as he walked through the gym door.
Allen has the most wins in Kansas’s basketball history and has a big impact on players, students, and visitors who walk into a home basketball game. Allen Fieldhouse was named for him because of his coaching career and his influence on players and students at KU. The shirts that read: “Pay Heed to All Who Enter: Beware of the Phog,” have a meaning to those who know the legend. “Legend has it that the great coach’s spirit haunts KU’s opponents in his namesake,” says Carpenter about the influence the coach still has today on the people entering the field house. The field house is a major influence during the games.

The main criticism that crossfit faces is that it elevates the risk of rhabdomyolsysis. According to the New England Journal of Medicine this is when skeletal muscle breaks down and leaks its contents into the bloodstream and can then cause kidney failure. This is brought on by the high intensity workouts and working in the heat.
All great coaches have learned what they know from other coaches and players. Don't keep the attitude that you know everything and are the greatest coach to ever walk the earth. Be humble and eager to learn from others. This is how to become a better coach. Like players, coaches should "be coachable".
As the dual progressed my team wrestled with purpose, passion and power. Finally, it was my turn to step out on that mat and put to work all my physical and mental preparation. The fans were roaring with excitement, the gym was full of supporters, my mind was racing and my heart was pounding. A moment of self-doubt overtook me: one mistake and all my dedication and drive would not pay off and I would let my team and school down. As the match began my mind was blank for the entirety of the first period and I relied on my body to do what it was trained to do.
