Fast food corporations are not responsible for childhood obesity. Firstly, parents have to decide if they are going to allow their children to eat unhealthy fast foods. Secondly, once the child has gotten to an older age they can decide for themselves if they would like to eat fast food. Thirdly, there are other fast food corporations that specialise in healthy foods. Finally, just because something has been advertised does not mean you have to buy it.

Many people are lead to believe that fast food corporations are responsible for childhood obesity, whereas it is easy to see that it is in fact more the parents fault then it is the corporations. Parents make the decision on their own that they will buy the fast food for their children. Fast food corporations cannot physically make you purchase any of their food. Also many parents see fast food corporations as a way to get out of cooking. It seems as if they would rather go out and buy unhealthy food for their children, allowing the opportunity for childhood obesity than stay at home and cook a nice healthy meal for their children. Obviously the responsibility lies on the parents for their child’s obesity. However, it is unreasonable to place all the blame on parents.

Older children are often given the opportunity to choose between a healthy meal and an unhealthy meal. This is especially shown through teenagers. An average teenage child   would much rather an unhealthy meal to a healthy one without knowing the consequences they might face. Before I became vegetarian I would have preferred a happy meal rather than a nice healthy salad. But now I can see the effect this could have had on my childhood years. It was my choice to buy the food. The fast food corporation did not make me buy the food. Clearly some of the balme needs to fall on the children themselves for their own obesity.
