Bowling for Columbine, a documentary written and directed by Mr Michael Moore in 2002 after the horrific shooting at Columbine High School, on April 20th 1999. Not long after the shooting, Americans were quick to blame violent video games, movies and heavy metal music artists. Mr Moore believes that this is not the reason, but believes that it was caused by America's relaxed gun laws. Through the use of technical, written and audio codes Moore did an excellent job at portraying his negative views about America's gun laws and how racist America is. In this documentary Mr More used an audio code known as a voice over, one example is where he showed us a film of buildings being blown up and saying over the top of this clip “and the president ordered the bombing of another country we couldn’t pronounce”.
I especially enjoyed his analysis on the vigilantes and in particular the American Protective League (APL) which is a fairly significant picture of the state of affairs within our country and moreover, the lack of control the government had against the people. The “conspiracy theorist” inside of me has always believed in false flag terror, citizen spies and inside jobs and the existence of the APL was complete confirmation for me. While most would argue that these types of organizations couldn’t exist today, Kennedy opens the door to this type of behavior, which seems illegal in its very fibers. As discussed last week, this time period was rich with reform and political parties were eager to trump the other in any way possible. In Over Here, Kennedy touches on the elites pulling the strings behind the scenes spreading political influence and propaganda along the way.
The key period is the weeks after Gore conceded the 2000 election and before the inauguration, when the Clintons knew they would be preparing for a Bush presidency. The abuses in that brief period are well-known now: from numerous pardons, including some to campaign donors; to the Clintons' claiming some White House furniture as personal rather than state-owned. Several of the "abuses" claimed by Olson went beyond politics and into policy: from a last-minute change in the EPA definition of allowed arsenic levels; to making the United State a signatory to the International Criminal Court. The reason this book paints a nicer picture than Hell To Pay is because it moves beyond politics to policy. In that regard, it's a detailed description of what Clinton did, mostly by Executive Order, in anticipation of four years of a Bush presidency undoing Clinton's 8-year legacy.
She uses different numbers and awards to show how devoted the shows fans are and how well the show is actually doing. Peacocke talks about her own struggle with the shows offensive humor but then now she realizes the use of humor in the jokes. The author uses different segments of the show to show how although the jokes are, at first glance, offensive the hidden meaning is simply "pointing out the weaknesses and defects of U.S. society in a mocking and sometimes intolerable way." (263). Antonia Peacocke uses short parts of from different authors to shape her argument, agreeing with some and pointing fun at others.

Osama bin Laden, the terrorist leader wanted for murder of U.S. citizens overseas and suspected of running the September 11, 2001, airliner attacks that killed 3000 people, issued a new video addressed to Americans, just days before Congress returns to again consider the course of the Iraq occupation90x91. In the video he knocked Democrats for continuing to fund the occupation, and taunted President Bush for failing in Iraq. He also knocked Bush for leading a corporatist crony system, and for rejecting the Kyoto treaty and worsening global warming. And he praised socialist thinker Noam Chomsky as one who advised against invading Iraq. Bush commented on the video: “I found it interest[ing] that on the tape Iraq was mentioned, which is a reminder that Iraq is part of the war against

In June 2012, Fox News released a tape about Obama breaking his oath to help immigration and it seemed as if he was contradicting himself and not prioritizing it. The Fox news caster stated, before the unveiling of the tape, “Let me play this for the audience so they can understand and fully grasp here the magnitude of what he did on Friday.” Fox made it clear that they wanted the audience to “fully” grasp a lie. Stuart on the “Daily Show” showed the full tape instead of only a portion of the tape like Fox, and display to his cynical audience how deceptive Fox truly is. The full tape revealed how Obama, in reality is still prioritizing and reinforcing his beliefs, unlike how Fox interpreted it. On the “Daily Show” Stuart, after broad casting the corrupted video, used a sarcastic tone and commended Fox for showing such a shocking video and even apologize for past “mistakes” of ridiculing Fox.
