Family Values Family comprises of those people who look after you, and are responsible for playing a vital role in nurturing when we are young, and who teach us those lessons in life, with their own experiences, which can never be learned through any textbook. We acquire the essentials of life such as ethics and moral values through the relationships we have in our family. As a group, family includes parents and offspring in its basic form. Such groups even exists at the subhuman level, filled with faithfulness, sacrifice and respect for one another, linked together with hordes, bands, tribes, and communities. Like all other institutions, family is a system of accepted norms and dealings to get essential jobs done together as a unit. In other words, a home may be called a group of people with common ancestors or kinship group united by blood. Family values are governed by the social beliefs, the norms of behavior within a family that every family member abides by. Moreover, these rules are guidelines, which decide what is right and what is wrong. Thus, they are the building blocks of a family. There are certain functions that a family is expected to fulfill while existing in a society. One of the most prominent and basic functions of the family is to produce and reproduce young ones, biologically as well as socially. Family is the principal institution, which provides a way through which an individual can fulfill his or her sexual needs. Most societies have certain norms that define the approval or disapproval of sexual activities.
