Family Values Blood is thicker than water; the words which my family have instilled upon me and have influenced my life. Although the term "family values" does not have a specific meaning, many people can agree that personal family values are the bond which keep families united. Family values are the beliefs and traditions passed down from previous generations. By honoring these qualities of a family, traditions and certain rules in a household will always be passed down to future generations. In my family, the three most important values are sacrifice, respect, and honesty. These three values are what have made me who I am today, and have kept my family strong, and most importantly, together. To me, sacrifice is giving up something in order to accommodate others needs. When my mother gave birth to my brother and I, she realized what a joy it was to have children. But, she also began to realize it was a lot of hard work balancing motherhood and work. In order to provide in any way she could, my mother quit her job of fourteen years in order to raise us in a happy and healthy environment. This was a huge sacrifice she made in order to help her family. I have grown to respect my mother and her sacrifices for her family because it could not have been easy leaving a job you love, and leaving what is a part of your pride. My father on the other hand has sacrificed almost all of his life for his wife and kids. He has always been determined to do what makes our family happy, although it has been difficult for him. His successful job in his home country, Iran, did not stop him from moving our family to the United States. He was always willing to leave behind his values to do what was best for our family. During this time, he sold his business and home in order to come to America. After just a couple of years, he has now opened his own car wash and small business. I
