It is so important to have traditions, because continuation of family traditions amidst great technological advances and fast paced lives is very much important. Traditions are part of the glue that holds families together. Traditions are beneficial in several ways. First, they give a sense of security, closeness, and lasting memories. Coming home from school I knew my mom would be there; to help with homework, or fix a snack, or help solve my boy troubles. It always made me feel better; knowing that no matter what mom would be there; ready to give hugs and tissues in hand. No matter what the problem was she’d always help me through it; with some good advice and a cup of hot chocolate. That’s the sense of security I want to pass on too my children. Every year on Christmas Eve; me and my family would all bundle up, get in the car, and drive around town looking at all the Christmas lights; singing Christmas carols at the top of our lungs. If the house was all done up; we’d get out of the car to get a closer look; All the twinkling lights, seeing blow up Santa with all the reindeers. It was magical, for when we got home; we knew Santa would have come. That’s the closeness I felt with my family. My Dad would get up early every Sunday morning to make the whole family a big breakfast. We’d all sit around the table; plates piled high of scrumptious food. Like, fluffy homemade pancakes as round as the plate, and stacked three high. Everyone laughing as I tried to stuff my mouth full of the sticky delicious goodness. Then after breakfast my sisters and I would go outside and play catch with my dad while mom cleaned up our mess. The memories I have of my childhood will last me a lifetime.
