As Alice had to grow up basically looking after her self and her younger siblings she learned that even if you do not have support you still need to follow your dreams and live you life. One of the hardest things to do as a parent is to let our adult children actually be adults - free to make their own mistakes, and live their own lives. Child Protective Services or CPS is program in which children who are abused and/ or neglected are removed from their home and the county or state in which they reside has temporary custody of the child (Wikipedia). All mothers wish their children the best. Mothers would do anything in their will to support them or save their lives. Some mothers go through tough times learning that their children have a disease or illness and the only way to treat it is to have a matching organ .When the parents or siblings do not have the matching organ, there really is no decision left rather than having a new born created to give an organ away to save the sick child. Donor babies or savior siblings are conceived for one purpose and it is to save their older sibling. There is no permanent law against savior babies but parents should not create life to save others.
It is almost as if students have a mind set that their life has to be a certain way because of the lives of their family members before them and this is simply not true. I do plan to become a teacher so I know that this is a problem that I will have to face and that I will have to deal with students suffering from generational poverty throughout my entire career. I do believe there are ways to help the children overcome this. One way that I would help the children is to help them see and realize the value of their own life and their own education. I would help the child to see that just because their parents and grandparents are education to a certain extent, doesn’t mean that’s how it has to be for them.
It is not that they demand too much from their kids but they expect too little. Parents try so hard to provide their children’s needs to make them happy and become their kid’s best friend that they forget about being a real parent. A parent who knows what is best for their child should not be afraid to say “no”, “The mistake that many parents make today is not that they’re too strict but rather too lenient”.
