RUNNING HEAD: FAMILY NURSING PLAN OF CARE Family Nursing Plan of Care Michel’e Lusk University of Phoenix NUR/405- Friedman Assessment April 11, 2011 Family Nursing Plan of Care Beginning March, 2011, I performed a family assessment on AB. AB is a forty-nine year old married female, and a mother three biological daughters. Her husband is an electrician who recently returned to work and she is a activity worker at a nursing home. AB’s husband is not the father of either of her daughters. However, they treat him as if he were, for he has performed as if he were. The daughters’ ages are 30, 28, and 26. Her eldest daughter is in college and works two jobs. She’s recently divorced and is with two children. She resides in the same complex of AB. Her middle-aged daughter has two children and resides with AB and her husband. She too, is a activity worker at the same nursing home as AB. She is separated and suspected of drug abuse. The younger daughter resides in the inner city with her boyfriend. The two younger daughters attend the same cosmetology school. AB met her husband in a treatment center for recovering addicts. She has been ‘clean’ for 18 years. She has a great concern about her grandchildren being exposed to the horrors of someone’s addiction. She hoped that she would be able to influence and encourage her daughter to refrain from drugs, but suspects that she may have began to use different types. The grandchildren exhibit behaviors that are attention-seeking. Because of AB and her husband’s personal experience with drug addiction, they have decided that their daughter should move by the end of the month. AB informed her daughter of this mutual decision. AB’s husband has begun to drink and she has concerns that he may escalate to cocaine usage. She has not seen any signs that would suggest that he is, but feels that her
