AACN Scholarship I have now been a Registered nurse for almost an entire year. I have spent this year training and orienting in the Adult ICU setting at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. It has always been a dream of mine to be a Family Nurse Practitioner. In nursing school I had the opportunity to shadow several nurse practitioners and create a project showing the various jobs that they can do. I also work with several nurse practitioners in my career as an intensive care nurse. I enjoy how they have a different perspective than a physician, but they are allowed more autonomy than a registered nurse. As a high school student I dreamed of obtaining my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and as a graduate I will strive to obtain my masters and someday even a doctoral degree. I want to be the best that I can be at any level and will work hard to excel in any situation that comes my way. As a family nurse practitioner I will be lucky enough to be able to provide care for all age groups of patients and families. I would like to work in a setting where I can work with various populations such as a community clinic or even a primary care physician’s office. Some other goals that I am working towards or have achieved include certifications such as; ACLS, PALS, CCRN, and a bachelors degree in Spanish language. I will work hard to go above and beyond in my educational endeavors and to do everything in the program to the best of my ability. I am hopeful that I will be chosen to be worthy of this AACN scholarship to help provide for tuition and other educational expenses.
