Fame and riches are fleeting. Stupidity is eternal "Fame is a vapour, popularity an accident, and riches take wings. Only one thing endures and that is character."Riches and fame are not long lasting. Everything fades with time. But riches and fame are often overrated. We don’t realize that it only takes seconds for your riches and fame to fall down. “Money can buy a house, but not a home. Money can buy a bed, but not sleep. Money can buy a clock, but not time. Money can buy a book, but not knowledge”. Becoming rich does not guarantee your happiness as we can see it from the above lines. Money may come and go but our character, habits with all its follies always remains with us. Once you leave this world you will not be remembered for your riches but only for what you have done for others. This is effectively captured in Charles Dickens’ novel Christmas Carol. In this novel Ebenezer Scrooge, who only worries about his riches undergoes a change in attitude through revelation by the three spirits that visit him. The ghost of future shows scrooge that his death is mourned by none and how he spends his life alone till his end. This concept is not just in stories but in our real life too. Mahatma Gandhi Father of our Nation was a person who believed in simple living and high thinking. He did not give importance to passing riches he wore only a khadi dhoti. And even without riches he could guide our nation to fight for its freedom and ultimately defeat the empire on which the sun never sets. Everyone especially the youth tend to go behind fame and fails to realize that fame is just an illusion. Take the case of world famous cyclist Lance Armstrong who defeated his illness and still rose to glory in his game. He was an idol for many, a youth icon. But then in just a night his fame fell to a deep pit when he revealed that he used drugs to win games. The heroic
