TOPIC: FAILED NEGOTIATIONS: WHO IS TO BLAME? THE AFRICAN CONTEXT INTRODUCTION Everybody negotiate in his or hers personal and professional lives and it is an important part of the competitive modern life. Negotiations can occur over dealing with people, business contracts, official matters, service, buying products and relationships. However in Africa most states have been adversely affected by failed negotiation between the various organizations in governments and workers unions and therefore having great implication on the economy of most states and affecting the development of the states. APPROACHES TO NEGOGIATION The paper will look at the major approaches NEGOGIATION PROCESS The paper will give an overview of the negotiation process CASE STUDY In this paper I will focus on the a tending issue in most African states, that of constant unending workers strikes and how this strikes can be averted through negotiation. In this paper I will try and make a comparative analysis of the United States of America negotiation skills and that of most African states and how they differ. FACTORS INFLUENCING NEGOGIATION PROCESS Further on the paper will expound on the factors that influence effective negotiations, on an emphasis on the following • cultural backgrounds • mindsets • negotiating styles • the relationship • authority level • subconscious and semi-conscious psychological factors • prior experiences • inherent bargaining power • Advocacy, or persuasiveness of argument, LESSONS LEARNT The paper will after diagnosing the problem in the failed negotiation will give a comparison of how successful countries like United States have been able to put there house in order and avoiding the unending strikes witnessed in Africa, in this case will look at The United States as a Successful Negotiator.
