Another problem was that even though there are anti-discrimination policies, a slight differential treatment towards minorities is still present. Employers expect and demand more input from minority groups and that is why people are hesitant to leave their workplace to cast a vote (Rivers, 2012). An outside source looks at voting from a different perspective. An interestingly opposing statistic is that minority groups with higher education and social status take the time to participate, as voting is very important to them. They want to take part in the choice of their government because it took so long and so much effort for them to receive the equal rights and abilities to enjoy democracy (Speel, 2010).
Ads in today’s society are not that ethical. They are trying to sell their product to everyone not just to a specific type of people or race. Every day kids are struggling to become popular in school by winning people over. In politics, you have to become popular and win people over if you want to get their vote. Do you see a similarity here? Another possible reason why kids cannot vote is because they don't see the world the way adults do. I won't deny that.
Analyzing: “Plugged In, Tuned Out” With the rise of popularity in the media, some fear that young Americans are becoming less exposed to the news. Many adults who grew up watching the news and reading newspapers fear that with this lack of exposure, young Americans will fail to obtain knowledge of the world’s most vital current affairs. When it comes to proposing an effective argument, appeals such as logos, ethos, pathos and kairos are used to persuade the audience in a particular direction. Logos refers to the use of logic appeal to attract the reader into a rational argument. In “Plugged In, Tuned Out…” the author uses logos extensively in order to support the idea that young adults have decreased their amount of attention toward the news in comparison to past generations.
The success of a new film can be defined as either commercial success or critical success. Commercial success is more important to mainstream films, whilst critical success is more important to independent films. A good film script for a mainstream film will be simplistic and predictive so that it appeals to mass audiences. Also the film script will belong to a clear genre and will have a structured storyline. If the majority of the population finds the script of a film to be unclear and hard to understand then they will give their friends that feedback and so people won’t go to see the film, which is especially bad for a mainstream film as they cost millions to produce and rely on commercial success.
The journalists and professors which the majority was of Islamic decent were very objective and just brought out the facts. I thought that the off screen narrator had a perfect tone for what was being spoken about and summarized the facts quite nicely. I do how ever get the sense of optimism from some of the journalists and professors for a modernized society with the best from the east and the west. I don’t share the same optimism I think too much history is entrenched in their culture and as a people they don’t know or are scared to rid themselves of the fundamentalist beliefs because it has failed them in the
They have ratings that they use all of the time, which helps to keep movies of all types to be produced. It is wrong to say someone can’t see something because of age, but it is a step in the right direction and most parents would agree on some age ratings. People should be allowed to read and say what they want. The first amendment is widely abused in modern media and across the country. The format that they use for media related things isn’t fully prepared and has a multitude of flaws amongst it.
September 11th 2001 Through My Eyes On September 11th, 2001 New York City witnessed one of the worst terrorist attacks in history, if not the worst. Ten Al Qaeda members hijacked two airplanes in mid-air and each was flown into one of the World Trade Center buildings eventually causing the 110-story buildings to crumble down killing 2606 people. Ten years later on September 11th, 2011 the 9/11 memorial was opened to the public. I had the opportunity to visit this memorial with my class and the experience was mind-boggling. After all that happened on 9/11 and all the crazy people out in the world I was really surprised about the fact that there was a lot of security to get in to the memorial but not nearly as much as I would have
Looking at the data surprised me and I found myself analyzing the questions that were displayed on the pages. I thought all of the charts and graphs were interesting and would apply to a wide variety of people in contrast to the photographs. These charts were more persuasive than the photographs because the statistics can persuade someone to go seek higher education from looking at the “What It Takes to Get Ahead” graphs or maybe even persuade someone to spend more time with their family based on the “Do you spend enough time with your family” graph. It was not necessarily how visually appealing in this situation it was more about the content and what the content did to persuade the audience. The images did not persuade anything for me while the graphs and charts did.
Don’t Judge a Book by its Movie American society has become overwhelmed with the visual media, and often this media overshadows the classical paper books. The metaphorical phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” is well known by most Americans; given our technological age, perhaps now we should think of it as “don’t judge a book by its movie.” When novels go through the process of being made into a motion picture the novel tends to be changed to better accommodate the actors or the audience. Sometimes this can be very effective; but occasionally writing movies originally from books can also be destructive to the author’s original ideas and purposes. The film Field of Dreams, produced by Universal Pictures, is based on the novel Shoeless Joe written by W.P. Kinsella.
