It can leave the participant feeling bad with seemingly no way forward. Verbalising and exploring a learners thoughts can assist them gain a positive perspective of their own work and ability and will also help identify problem areas, therefore providing both the teacher and the learner with the ability to develop e.g. asking a learner where they think they did well and where they think they could improve. Some situations in which constructive feedback is required can include; ongoing performance discussions, providing specific performance pointers, following up on teaching discussions, providing correct guidance, providing a learner with consequences of their behaviour. Clues at when constructive feedback is needed can be when a learner asks for your opinion on how they are doing, this can be a 'cry for help' from a learner.
The presence of others affects our behaviors through influence. Peer pressure being the best example of this. Through peer pressure our peers influence us by encouraging use to change our attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs in order for us to conform to the group norm. A person who is influenced by peer pressure may not want to actually be a part of the groups or associate with them and as such change their behavior accordingly to the group behavior when around that group. A person may change his or her attitudes and behaviors when around social groups in order to feel accepted even if they don’t particularly believe in the group behaviors.
M3. Explain why conformity and obedience are important in the public services, with reference to research studies. Conformity and obedience are forms of social influence which strongly affect our behaviour is social situations, from following fashions and unwritten social norms which organise our behaviour, to committing immoral acts because we are commanded to by someone who appears to be in a position of authority. An infringement on rights can affect a service user’s intellectual development, as it may make them question more and more why it is happening to them, possibly causing them to become more confused. Due to intellectual development already slowing down around this age, causing much confusion, an infringement on their rights may cause more confusion and possibly psychological damage. Emotional development would be hit much more drastically than any other developments when regarding discrimination. If a service user is not being given their independence (to the best of their ability) and they are forced to do what they’ve been told to do will cause problems to their right of freedom.

Mindset and the Environment It is said that our surroundings greatly affect our mindset as well as the way we live. In the essay “On Habit”, written by Alain de Botton, the idea we are in control of our lives is questioned and new ideas are introduced. It seems that people are capable of completely evolving in life simply through changing their outlooks. Although a person’s environment may have an impression on who they become, the important thing lies in the way they perceive it. Appreciation for the smaller things in life allows one to make the best out of a bad situation.
Outline some of the ways in which the labelling process may lead to educational under-achievement for some pupils. Labelling is a body of sociological theory which examines how the identity and behaviour of individuals is shaped by their categories by significant social others. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Self-fulfilling prophecy is when a teacher labels pupil on the basis of this label means they make predictions about them. Then, it means the teacher treats the pupil accordingly acting as if the predications are already true.
Time-outs can be effective, particularly with small children, when they are applied appropriately. However, if time-outs are misused, then they might lead to feelings of abandonment and unworthiness, blind obedience, and a lack of self-control. Moreover, according to the class notes, children are curious and have a drive to learn, and learning is intrinsically rewarding for them. In order to facilitate this learning and avoid punishment, we should try to create conditions that impede unwanted behaviors. It is important to note that if children feel that they are being manipulated or controlled by the rewards, their behavior will likely not change effectively.
Based on the different cultures and the ways people are raised gives them different traits that can influence their behavior and give them certain characteristics towards their personality. The people that raise you have a huge impact on your personality because you develop some of their similar traits. Growing up in different areas of the world with certain rules of that culture with develop a different personality that someone growing up in Northern America. Certain childhood experiences that had a significant impact in life or just having a different outlook on life can cause differences in personality. Past relationships can also have a huge impact on someone personality based on the seriousness of the relationship.
