Facebook and MySpace: Friend or Foe “Girl, did you see what he said to her on Facebook?! He broke up with all on her wall. That was so bogus of him! This is an example of a common Facebook scenario. People have so much access to each other lives just by a click of a button. When a person has this much access, good things don’t always come from it. Facebook and MySpace are damaging to relationships and friendships because many people can be in each other’s business, can be tempted to stray and can easily perpetuate rumors. Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet. MySpace is an online community that lets you meet your friends' friends. You can create a private community on MySpace and you can share photos, journals and interests with your growing network of mutual friends. Facebook and Myspace are so easy to access that it causes many people to be in each other’s business. When you look on a person’s profile and/or page you are able to see information about them. You have access to random things about the person and when a person maybe changes something, a person can ask many questions because they are so much involved in what’s going on your page. I have a friend that uses Facebook like it’s a toothbrush. She checks her messages and any comments she may have received at least a couple times a day. When she changed her relationship status on her page, different people started asking her many questions about what happened. After a while of this happening she just used an option to not have her status shown to abolish all the commotion.
