John Steinbeck made the plot interesting and the themes behind the work were truly brilliant. The book had its points were they were very descriptive but didn’t keep me interested enough. Reading through those boring parts is completely worth it though. Steinbeck makes the book easy to understand and i like that quality a lot about this book. In my opinion, I got the idea that this book was written more for the workings of the mind but at the same time Steinbeck wanted to make you feel something as you read this.

I loved those books, but I also knew that love had only one purpose. I was trying to save my life”(2). In other words Alexie feels that reading was his key to a better and more successful life. Reading is the foundation of Alexie’s strength to battle against a non- intellectual life.
Composition: Analysis In the selection of literary terms provided recently, they have been focusing on figurative language terms such as similes, metaphors, hyperboles, personification, etc. In the essay “Education” by Ralph Waldo Emerson, there is a lot of figurative language being used to advance his essay. In Emerson’s essay, there are varying uses of figurative language from the metaphor, to the simile, to personification. First, his use of the personification. When he states that, “Nature loves analogies, but not repetitions” (Emerson) he is using personification.

When the purpose is known, then there is a reason for the object, concept, or situation to exist. Without meaning or purpose, no direction can be found, and can leave the audience with a sense of emptiness. Symbols are an important way to hide meaningful information in plain sight. The reader may personalize the interpretation of the symbols, or it could be dictated by the author.
The novel explores the pain and suffering that the characters experience, however it also celebrates how the character forgive and forget the damages human nature has caused, by creating new opportunities and inspiring new beginnings. In conclusion the novel teaches us that in life there is a purpose for every challenge that human nature gives us. Some will use you, some will test you and some will teach you. In this comparative commentary the main comparison is about the fact that the subject in both texts are alike. In both texts the writers have the same point of view: people don’t want to read poetry anymore.
