9/11 2001 affected Americans because it was is the most tragic day in American history. Members of Al Qaudea, hijacked American Air Line’s airplanes, and crashed them into many buildings such as the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and were possibly going toward the White House. September 11 showed America that we’re not invincible and we need to expect the unexpected, to prepare for the future, and to be ready for anything. Also, fire fighters lost their lives do to the terrorist attack by saving others. Finally, it helped Americans come together and realize that every person in America was affected by the attack.
A reporting error in this high interest case mixed up his name forever immortalizing him as D.B. Cooper (Mysterious Disappearances in U.S. History). The skyjacking of Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 was the perfect crime in theory, whether or not Cooper survived is a different story. The Federal Berea of Investigation was immediately put on this case to find and arrest D.B. Cooper.
Actually, I believe they did, I personally believe that the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the crashing of Flight 93 does not accurately add up to it’s ashes. On September 11, 2001 the media/government reported that terrorists hi-jacked two U.S. commercial airplanes that struck the World Trade Center. Although how could the terrorist successively pass through security and board a plane with weapons, especially after the D.B. Cooper incident? How could such a hateful crime be planned and executed so flawlessly without any suspicion of an attack?
Wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down" (pg. 179). Throughout Morrison's novel "Song of Solomon" there are many references to flight. Whether it be in the introduction with the insurance agent, Robert Smith, committing suicide by "flying" off of the roof of Mercy hospital, Solomon's flight from slavery, or even Milkman's own personal flight at the end of the novel; the idea of flight is represented in many situations. Moving through the novel it becomes obvious that Milkman has trouble finding his own identity.
A cargo ship disguised as a cruise ship sunk because the Germans torpedoed it. It carried weapons and the passengers had access to one or more warnings by the Germans concerning sea travel around Great Britain. The British wanted America to join the war to support the Allies. Though this event did not immediately trigger the reaction the British wanted, the Lusitania event, in combination with others, caused the Americans to join the war, allowing the Allies to win. They needed the Americans, and they used an ingenious tactic to cause the Americans to join the war: the death of its own civilians.
The first one is that the brave women and men refused to let their airplane or their deaths be used to hurt America they died as heroes as they retook the airplane crashing it into a field near Shanks Ville Pennsylvania instead of allowing the hijackers to crash the airplane to its intended target believed to be nearby Washington D.C. The second story is that flight 93 was shot down by F-16 near Somerset Pennsylvania. THIS IS THE INFORMATION USED BY THE HIJACKERS AND NAMES. HI JACKERS FROM FLIGHT 11 ARE 1. Satam Am.a.
The Americans believed that the USSR attacked as a way to end the Cold War and start a Hot War. The Soviet Government produced numerous explanations as to why the KAL 007 had been shot down. From the beginning of the flight it was known that Captain Chun was flying off course, the flight was slowly drifting north and had soon entered USSR airspace. The Soviet military noticed the activity of the aircraft and saw it as suspicious and had no choice but to shoot it down as it did not obey radio orders from the base. More ideas were being tossed around as both the Americans and the Soviets continued to make
The article that I read was “Malfunctions in Libya” by Amy Davidson, from the New Yorker. This article talks about how an American plane crashed in Libya, however, the two pilots on the plane parachuted out, and survived. A reporter stated that when a Libyan saw one of the American pilots, he was about to get sent to the rebels, but Osprey landed and many more Americans arrived. A debate occurred whether the Americans injured 6 civilians, including a child from Libya. Whereas, another reporter stated that when the Libyan man encountered the fellow American, he greeted him with a hug and a peace gesture.
On May seventh 1915 there was a very sad tragic day for 128 Americans and families. A “merchant” ship known as the Lusitania was sailing close to the shore where German U-boats like to hang around and was torpedoed and had many people die from an explosion. The British still to this day blame it all on the Germans. But as I go on in my paper you will realize that Germany was justified to sink the boat. Fist off, the Germans had warned them weeks maybe even months back, that if any ships consulting or flying the British flag will be torpedoed after all passengers are off the ship; and this was published in the NEW YORK TIMES and all newspapers throughout the country.
On December 7, 1941 Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and sank three of the eight American battleships, destroyed 150 airplanes and killed 2,400 Americans (Bowles, 2011). The main reasons why the Japanese attacked the United States was because the United States mistrusted Japan and was strongly against Japanese aggressions into China. In 1940 the US imposed an embargo of all scrap metal and oil to Japan. Officials said that it would take further sanctions like freezing of all Japanese assets in the US if Japan didn't abandon its incursions into East Asia. There was 16 million Americans that went off to fight and 400,000 of them would lose their lives, but worldwide 80 million people were killed (Wattenberg, 2000).
