Preventive education is an important part of the interaction that NYM has with the community. Nursing image throughout the hospital is respected the only problem is the nursing image among nurses themselves. The shortage also comes into play here. Nurses become burned out and frustrated and tend to be negative with each other due to the stress. Interdisciplinary relationships throughout the hospital are strong.
There are some patients or employees with strong accents that can make it difficult for one to understand and may cause a misunderstanding between both parties. Not only do healthcare professionals use communication to provide service but also for financial planning of service, it is used to build a solid relationship between the patient, patients’ family, and the healthcare professionals. Working in such a diverse health facility all employees, volunteers, patients and family need to take time and educate themselves on other cultures because what you might do to others as a joke or just cause might offend or hurt others. All employees should respect the patients’ culture and try to work and communicate as thoroughly as possible to avoid offending their culture, moral, religion, and beliefs. Nursing indicators such as education on unnecessary use of restraints and not repositioning the patient every two hours, are failures to deliver quality care. The staff increased the chances of Mr. J to develop pressure ulcers. Also the use of restraints increased the chances of Mr. J to develop a deep vein thrombosis or pneumonia from lack of mobility. All members of the healthcare team are responsible to provide the best care possible and be an advocate for the people they care for. (American Nurses Association, 2015).
Chochinov, 2007 (cited in Cornwell & Goodrich, 2009), states simply that compassion is ‘a deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.’ Pediatric patients and their families are highly sensitive to the compassionate nature of health care professionals and a successful therapeutic relationship with them depends on the sensitive, compassionate care offered by the nurse. It is also the responsibility to review the paperwork and have the patient or the parent to sign the various forms and to deliver them their bill of rights in which every patient receives upon coming into the hospital. There are barriers that may impede effective interaction among the personnel staff. There is a great disconnect Barriers that are available both internally and externally can hinder interactions amongst hospital personnel. Internal barriers are the culture of the hospital itself by supporting and atmosphere where short cuts and work around in order to complete tasks more quickly.
M1: Assessment of Argyle’s and Tuckman’s Communication Theories & the Role of Effective Communication & Interpersonal Interaction in Health & Social Care Effective communication and interpersonal interaction are vital in a health and social care setting. This can ensure that a service user’s needs are met by the healthcare professionals involved. An example of this would be a paramedic bringing a patient into hospital and communicating correctly with the doctors and nurses about the patient’s condition, such as if they have a particular type of injury or if they are allergic to any medication. If important information like this is insufficiently explained to other healthcare professionals, then treatment for the patient would be inadequate and have a negative effect on the patient’s treatment and recovery. To help understand communication and interpersonal interaction, two theories will be discussed, these are: Argyle’s Communication Cycle and Tuckman’s Group Theory.

The symptoms of compassion fatigue follow classic stress patterns. Assessing one's own emotional health is important, as usually the person experiencing compassion fatigue may be the last person to to know that they are suffering from it. Because every caregiver is at risk for compassion fatigue, it is imperative that the caregiver recognizes their own needs and tend to themselves on a daily basis. All caregivers, whether professional, friend, or family, will at some time feel overwhelmed and stressed. Coping with these feelings, as well as caring for themselves, is an area where many caregivers seem to overlook.
