Math was something I was always good at because I looked at it like a challenge to my intellect, I am right or I am wrong. On one occasion when I was doing math work in class, my teacher asked me to do complex math problems, and I did them with no problem. My teacher was surprised I could do them; in fact she took me out of special education for math because of this. Now this gave me an outlook that my teacher did not know my potential as a student and she was not going to challenge me. She was just going to give me work based on what she thought my ability was.
488). O`malley explains that students should be given test frequently to allow the teachers to give their students feed back in where their grades stand in the class and to discipline them into studying on a daily basis. The article also mentions that some professors are usually against more testing because it would be time consuming for them to prepare the exams then grade them. However, this issue can be solved by having teaching assistants or by grading multiple-choice exams by scantron machines. In conclusion, O’Malley strongly suggests that professors should give students
One of the biggest and most obvious goals I have set would be graduating high school. This should be a pretty easy goal to accomplish but I do need to watch myself in some of my classes. Some of the big things I need to do to meet this goal are improving my neatness, not being lazy and actually turning assignments, and trying to study as much as I can. The hardest of these will unquestionably be turning in my homework. I’ve always had a hard time turning in any homework and this is the year I need to start doing it.
I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork. Lastly for this section, I plan on changing up my study habits. In grade school all the way up until senior year of high school, I made it a habit to study and do homework in front of my television. Now, that will not happen. I am only going to study and do homework while sitting in silence or while listening to instrumental music.
As the year goes on, I can gradually add more work. Each day when they enter the classroom, dropping off their take home folder will be routine. I will collect their homework assignments from their folders and return their folders back to them, along with their weekly assignment sheet. Their weekly assignment sheet will always stay in their homework folder. If assignments aren't turned in for the day, I will ask the student why it wasn't completed and send a note home to the parents.
I mainly pushed them off because elementary teachers always wanted some kind of colorful and creative diorama or drawing. Even though I found this fairly simple, I just didn’t enjoy the trivial coloring or gluing. I would put these off so much that I would even have to ask my dad to come help me finish just so I could get to bed on time. However as I grew older I began to enjoy schoolwork more. It was becoming more complex, especially in math.
It would not be able to cut back his hours and taking a class that is not required would take a lot of his time. The Study Skills class requires note taking in his current classes. This would allow him to put more attention on the note taking and possible less understanding of the material for the specific class. Which could possibly distract him and lose his focus. However, Study Skills comes with many important reasons to keep the class.
Having a career that is designed specifically to help people will fit me perfectly. Not only do I love to help people, I also love the subject matter that goes along with being a physician assistant. In school, I always hated math, and although I was good at English, I disliked that as well. The only subject matter that I actually found interesting and that I wanted to learn were and still are the health sciences. Maybe I sound like a nerd, but I actually look forward to my cell biology class.
I love helping my kids with their homework. While helping them with their homework there is a lot of things that I learn that I never knew. Even when I become a teacher there will be some things that I be learning as I teach my students. There are a lot of obstacles that I have to encounter on a day to day basis. As I am doing my schooling online there are times that I just want to quit but I know to myself that I have come this far and I refuse to turn around.
In my opinion, despite all of his specific characteristics, Mr. Fleagle was an outstanding teacher with an ability to understand when, where, and how to encourage his students to write. [I liked the essay because] my previous situation was very similar to author’s. First, I also hated writing essay, whether in Spanish or English, in middle school. Second, I thought it was useless for me because if my future boss hired me, he wouldn’t [care] if my writing was good or bad. After I read this essay, I though that teacher’s roles are very important to students.
