ARROYO: Hello, thank you for taking the time to do this interview. The first question that we are going to start with is an introductory question. Please tell me about your call to pastoral ministry. STANKIEWICZ: Counseling people, walking with them on the journey of life, and being a compass pointing to truth contribute to my call to ministry. ARROYO: Out of all your ministry responsibilities, which ministry responsibility do you enjoy the most and why? STANKEWITZ: The ministry responsibility I enjoy most is being accountable to the people who I lead and do life with because I love people. ARROYO: Now, on the other hand, what ministry duty do you enjoy the least and why? STANKEWITZ: Responsibilities that become monotonous such as paperwork.…show more content…
My ministry is not only in the church in the traditional sense, but it's also in my work ethic and in my everyday routine. ARROYO: Please describe the amount of time you spend in an average week on hands on church ministry. STANKEWITZ: In an average week, I spend approximately 8-10 hours in the four walls of the church. This includes Sunday morning, preparation, and in staff meetings. Outside of the church, I probably spend 20 hours in church ministry by, for example, visiting members. ARROYO: Describe the amount of time you spend in an average week in your devotion to God and prayer. STANKEWITZ: The time I spend in an average week on personal prayer and devotion is between 3-4 hours by listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, reading the Bible, or talking to God while I am doing the tasks that don't require a lot of brainpower. The leadership should be in one accord in fundamental issues. However, if it is a small disagreement about methods, the minister should not be terminated, although he or she should obey and support the pastor. ARROYO: I see. Now, what advice would you give me on how to avoid forced termination? STANKEWITZ: Be as transparent as possible, live above reproach, and be an effective communicator not only with your leaders but also with the people that you are leading. ARROYO: On a different, lighter, subject, when did you come to recognize that God called you to pastoral ministry? STANKEWITZ: At a very early age, I recognized that God has called me to the ministry. There has always been this grace on my life when it comes to serving God's people. ARROYO: Could you describe how you have seen this grace when you served people? STANKEWITZ: When I helped as a youth pastor, it brought me joy to see the young people devote their lives to Christ.
