Just like a religious believer who states “god loves us” but can’t explain the contradiction of evil in the world, believers qualify their statements by explaining god’s love is not like humans love he calls this “death by a thousand qualifications”. Therefore religious language is meaningless. However religion has responded to the falsification principle. R.B Braithwaite argued that the falsification principle explains religious language as cognitive when it if in fact non cognitive and therefore cannot be falsified, religious language is therefore still meaningful. Hare also responds to the falsification principle, showing that religious statements are meaningful even though they cannot be falsified because they have a significant impact for the people using the statement.
Many scientists believe that science and religion should not entwine. Scientists often keep religion separate from their work. Humans like you and I, turn to religion for an answer, for hope. Like Goodall, I believe science and religion are not different from each other but simply the way a person’s views the world as. Whether God created this universe or if they is a scientific answer to the creation of this universe, it is not as important than our future.
Jefferson explains that the government should only interfere with religious freedom when it inferences with someone else’s natural right; thusly making the separation of church and state not absolute. Kennedy misinterpretation is unethical because it causes citizens to falsely believe that their religious freedom cannot be taken away. Romney misuses his information when he argues “[w]e should acknowledge the Creator as did the Founders –in ceremony and word. Romney is correct that a one of the Founders, such as Jefferson states [w]ell aware that Almighty God hath created the mind free...”. Jefferson does acknowledge that there is a God or Creator that gave human beings the freedom of thought.
In his letter, Galileo asserts the Bible as a direct authority on faith and not as of one on science when his states, “that our authors knew the truth but the Holy Spirit did not desire that men should learn things that are useful to no one for salvation" The idea that the Earth moved and the sun stood still did not contradict scripture. If the scripture was interpreted correctly then the sun could only stand still if the sun normally moved around the Earth. Galileo wanted people during the 18th century to open their minds to the scientific discoveries and realize that a new idea did not have to repute scriptures. He argued against the accusations the he was condemning the Bible in a way that was, "without understanding it, weighing it, or so much as reading it". Galileo claimed to strongly believe the Bible and its message of faith.
How far do the sources suggest that Wolsey’s efforts to secure an annulment of the King’s marriage were half-hearted? Firstly, Source 1 is a letter written by Wolsey to Henry VIII and there is a possibility of this source being biased and it may be unreliable as Wolsey would have said anything to the King to ensure that he carries on trusting him. Also, source 1 shows that Wolsey had contact with the supreme courts in Rome and therefore could have contacted the Pope himself but he only saw Giovanni Stafileo, who just wrote a book and this didn’t change anything for Henry. Source 2 also agrees that Wolsey didn’t use his powers enough to attempt to get the annulment. Source 2 is a letter from the Duke of Suffolk to Henry and in it, it says
The Catholics may have been angry with the church but their church got reform and that’s what they wanted. The Catholic Church had no choice but to sale indulgence that was the pope’s orders and back in that time the Catholics followed the pope. The Catholic Church spent their money on unnecessary things. The church didn’t think wisely, but all of that changed because Martin Luther reformed the church and John Calvin helped. The pope lead the church and decided a person gets into heaven, but William Tyndale believes that if you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savoir then you’ll get into heaven, and I believe the same things as Tyndale, you shouldn’t have to prove yourself to the pope that you deserve to go to heaven and the pope shouldn’t get to decide.
He opened my eyes and gave me a better understanding about embryonic stem cell research while including both his opinions and beliefs, thus allowing me to validate my own thoughts in return. Douglas James is not opposed to all stem cell research, just embryonic stem cell research. According to Dr. James, “Human life is an amazing gift from God, and, as His creation, we must respect and honor this gift by seeking to protect innocent life, being good stewards of this gift, and operating in humble submission to the Creator. Therefore, Christians should continue to oppose all forms of embryo-destructive stem cell research, support current non-embryonic stem cell research, and begin advocating for more resources to be allocated to the research of induced pluripotent stem cells (James).” Dr. James also notes that numerous new discoveries indicate that several types of adult stem cells behave like embryonic stem cells. Under laboratory conditions these adult stem cells can be coaxed to develop into a wide range of cell types that are suitable for use in tissue-replacement therapies (James).
This type of evolution contends that there is no conflict between science and the Biblical book of Genesis which will cause uproar among the believers of both. Theistic may be the unbearable stain of present confusion and argumentative path but, could it become the revelation of the future that explains all?
We don’t question the numbers in math we just accept them. It is the same as religion we are given information about our religion and we have to take that as true and we don’t question it, and are just told to accept it. Religion is based on faith, and there is no way to prove everything in a religion we just believe what is told to us. In this aspect math and religion ascribe to similar standards, since they are based on a belief. Another way math and religion ascribe to similar standard is that both math and religion have been in our world for a very long time and are both affected by history.
I suppose the reason for this is that no one would willingly follow a fool because doing so would probably cause undesireable consequences. I believe, however, that something more than just human wisdom must be shown in order to succour to yourself thousands of years of lasting loyalty. Godly wisdom is that something. Godly wisdom is all knowing, no mistakes, no misunderstandings. Godly wisdom can only be held by God himself, but we can strive to educate ourselves as much as possible, thus reducing mistakes, misunderstandings, etc.
