During the lesson, students can utilize graphic organizers to identify, organize and assimilate key concepts and related details. A graphic organizer encourages students to actively seek out important details and helps filter out the non-crucial information. Students are forced to focus in on the areas of information that are important and in the process of filling out the organizer students are then able to make important connections between details. It also provides an outline that organizes the lesson information into a logical pattern making even more sense of the content increasing the student’s comprehension. Another benefit of utilizing a graphic organizer during a lesson is that it gives the
This means that the care of the service users will be improved since the staff are able to solve problems quickly and effectively. Having trained staff, that are educated with legislations, policies and procedures and are up to date with the current knowledge, means that they can provide excellent service for the service user. This allows the service user to relax as they will have confidence in the quality of care they receive. The staff members will also provide the correct service needed in a safe and friendly environment. This will improve the experience that the service user has.
This is so the practitioner can act on the advice and put it onto the planning. This advice can have more experience in different aspects of the child’s life. This then helps with the care and learning needs of all children as if the child has a disability which affects their learning. The teacher will have to get another professional in that knows what they are doing to help care for the child and help with the child’s learning. This means that the child will be getting a full learning experience and understand the lesson because it is easier for them.
A way to make the classroom seem a happier atmosphere is to decorate it as if it was a room at home; you can do this by using bright coloured paint on the walls such as red, green, yellow and blue. If the classroom was dull and unattractive the children wouldn’t be able to concentrate as much and wouldn’t enjoy their time at school. Put up posters which will appeal to the children but also has an educational purpose to it. Making sure that displays are regularly changed and also contrast with the topic they are study help the child to relate to what they are studying as well as adding a friendly atmosphere. Lighting adds warmth and added security to the classroom.
Different people adjust to different strategies. Most people adjust to more than one strategy. We just need to identify which ones through assessment. How the Awareness of Learning Strategies Influence Teaching and Learning It is important for teachers to understand what a student is going through in their process of learning new information. If you know the learning style of the student, it is easier to convey the message you are trying to convey.
One option is to divide learners into pairs and ask them to discuss how they would like the course to run, they will then feedback their suggestions and these will be recorded on a flipchart and the rest of the group invited to comment. It is impotant that all students feel able to contribute, so inviting them to add new groundrules to the flipchart throughout the course can help this process. A second option is to have a set of basic groundrules already written up on the flipchart and then invite learners to comment on or add to the list. This would be my preffered method as it suits the type and length of courses that I currently deliver. Examples of ground rules might be: • Starting and finishing on time • Respect each others opinions • Challenge the statement not the person • Mobile phones off or on silent • Listen to others, no interuptions • No offensive.
By basing knowledge on how children develop and learn, it can help make more developmentally appropriate activities. The children would learn more, and you would be more successful as a teacher. *Appreciate and support the bond between the child and family. If you appreciate the bond between the child and family, teaching in the classroom
This does not just mean safe in physical terms but also psychologically and emotionally. A health and safety risk assessment can be carried out on the classroom or area where the training will take place to ensure that it doesn’t pose any physical risk, such as trip or electrical hazards. The trainer/teacher should also consider the temperature of the area where the learners are expected to work ensuring it is comfortable for example opening a window after the lunch break could help everyone to wake up and pay attention – from experience afternoon sessions can be difficult to concentrate in!! Consideration should also be given to the layout of the classroom in terms of seating arrangements, for example traditional class room layouts may not allow collaborative working. The classroom should always be clean and well lit – it pays to check prior to the class starting and may mean you have to arrive a bit earlier if you have not used the room before however you may not always be able to control these
Some learners find it more beneficial to gather their own information this way as well as the teacher led discussion and question and answer sessions we have as a group. During the group session I also utilise the whiteboard to record all relevant information so the learners if they wish to do so can take notes at any time during the lesson and don’t feel rushed to do so when the discussion is taking place. The bulk of the session time is spent in practical work of some kind, I try to vary this as much as possible within the constraints of the course content and environment. I have found that the learners enter into group based practical work with a lot more enthusiasm then individual tasks. Practical work I have used successfully includes: List the recipes and methods to follow (to build confidence and familiarity) Goal directed tasks (“ when you have prepared all your chicken like this you can have a ten minute break”!)
This system allows me to pre-record trainings and utilize slides to teach a concept. Utilization of this tool allows me to provide scenarios where the learner can hear mock examples of conversations or interviews highlighting specific techniques and interventions. This allows the learner to move at their own pace and participate in knowledge checks as a way to confirm their aquistion of new information as opposed to the live and more interactive approach of net meeting where questions can be asked and responded to while the presentation is
