Examining Government Regulations Rhonda Black HSM/210 May 5th, 2013 Ramona Smerz Examining Government Regulations The California homepage on the Internet list 10 pages of resources for the homeless. For example, Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH). The PATH program provides federal homeless funds which provide service referrals, outreach programs, rehabilitation, mental health services, drug and alcohol treatment, housing, support, and diagnostic treatment to the homeless. Another example is bill number: AB 998 Amended. By clicking on this link also on the California homepage I found the legislative Council’s Digest which states, “This bill would provide that the council be composed of specified members and would authorize the council to perform various duties, including providing a state plan to end homelessness. This bill would authorize the council to seek all available federal funding for purposes of funding the council and its activities” (March, 2013). Both of these regulations will hopefully have a significant impact on the homeless adults. California has many government regulations regarding homeless adults in our state. I am sure they are trying to help but it obviously is not enough. Section one on the before mentioned bill number AB998 Amended states, “ (a) California has the highest rate of homelessness and the highest ratio of homeless people per resident, with 135,000 people sleeping on the streets or in shelters on any given night”. I was surprised by these numbers. I knew it was an issue but I never realized how big of an issue. Therefore, the current regulations are not having enough of an impact on the homeless epidemic and more needs to be done. If my job was to provide assistance to the homeless I am aware there may be some obstacles
