Health care information systems have evolved a lot over the past 20 years and continue to change every day. This paper will discuss Rotech Healthcare’s health care information systems and how they are different from 20 years ago. Rotech Health Care Rotech Health Care was founded in 1982 and has become the national leader in providing home medical equipment, respiratory equipment and services, and nebulizer medications for home health care use (Healthcare, 2002). Rotech uses four main information systems daily and they are IMBS, eIntake, sisco, and Medsage. IMBS is the system we use to verify the patient’s information such as when the patient last ordered supplies and when they can reorder. We also look there to see if there are any held item codes to see if we can ship out the patient’s supplies. A held item codes lets us know that their local store is needing some information either from the patient, the provider, or the patients’ health care provider and we cannot send supplies until that is taken care of. The eIntake system is where we place the orders and keep all the contact information for the patient. Sisco is the system that Rotech uses to route their phone calls to where they need to go. This is also the system that they use to monitor and record all phone calls. That is so if there are any complaints by the patient or the provider, than management can go back and listen to the phone cal. Medsage is where the orders go when a patient uses the automated system to place an order for their supplies. Rotech Health Care's Operation of 20 Years Ago and Today Rotech Health
