Individual: Evolution of Formal Organizations Paper Jhameka Quarles SOC/120 June 10, 2012 Nicole Taylor The structures of many formal organizations will continue to change and evolve. In previous decades the strict and over powering bureaucracies were in high demand, but in the present decade structures of formal organizations are becoming more flexible and open. Evolution is linked to change. Change is going to take place everywhere no matter the month, season, or year. Certainly people will have to adapt to their changing environments and surroundings to adapt to reality. Every person, place, or thing will change in some form. Individuals may change their appearances or lifestyles, places may be changed and sculptured to fit the needs of the new millennium decade, and things will forever change due to new improving technology. In this paper I will discuss how formal organizations have evolved, the differences among organizations in previous years to organizations today, and the current trends in formal organizations. I will put my best effort forth to describe how each of the characteristics for formal organizations must evolve or change in Micah’s organization to become more open and flexible. The future of many formal organizations must be able to look forward at greater opportunities for improvement and stability in their organization. Many organizations have evolved for the better to fit the needs of the customers. Organizations operate accordingly to what the customers want and need. Formal organizations have evolved tremendously from many decades ago. Previously, there was a lack of electronics and lack of technology to keep the functioning of an organization running smoothly.
